Default Anyone going to the Steve Vai Master Class?

I am attending the Friday session of the Steve Vai Master Class this weekend in Fullerton, CA. Any linkers attending any of the two classes? I know it's kind of expensive, but my wife got me the ticket for my Birthday! I've never been to California so I am looking forward to this weekend.

That sounds fantastic. But do yourself a favor if you're also excited about
Cali and plan time to get the hell outta Orange County.

I went to the Friday session. It was really cool. Very laid back and good environment. Vai had 3 Jems with him including EVO, FLO and 1 more. His tech and a sound guy were there. He had an iBook set up with Pro Tools and he demonstrated/performed about 6 songs thru out the evening. He opened the floor for questions quite often. It was very informal, and we were open to ask questions and comment anytime. Vai discussed a lot of esoteric theories on music, success, discipline, technique etc ... It was interesting to hear his point of view and also hear his advice. He made a comment on how he had to sacrifice many things such as his relationships with his friends and family thru out his life (especially early on) to get to the level of virtuosity that he has attained. He commented that if it is your plan to be a great player/virtuoso, to be prepared for how much time it will take and the personal sacrifices you will have to make in order to make it happen. There really was a lot of information in the 3-4 hours of the class. Overall it was just a joy to be in his presence and to be treated "special" for that amount of time. He is truly a very nice person. I've met Vai a few times and I have always been impressed with how he handles the public. He is very intelligent and respectful. Also, he's extemely witty and very funny. I'm sure there will be a DVD of the seminar out there at some point.
