    Default Firefox Trojan

I know many of you use firefox, just wanted to give you a heads up on a pretty new trojan/malware that I have.

Basically, it redirects google links, and only the first couple, and only some of the time. That's all you see if you have it, who knows what else it's doing. None of the trojan/antivirus programs are on top of this yet, it's a pretty new version of something that has been going around for awhile. I had Mcafee security and firewall, and it didn't catch it.

I have downloaded and updated many programs to get rid of it, but none of the work. Malwarebytes is aware of the problem and working on it from what I have read. I have it installed, I'll update and scan with it everyday and hopefully they'll get it.

To see if you have it, google anything (like "dogs"). Click the first link, if you see something in the status bar other than the website (like ad2.doubleclicker.net) or if it takes you somewhere other than the link, you have it.

For now, it's back to IE, I uninstalled FF and have IE as my default, and it works fine.

I did find a couple cool programs researching all this.

CCleaner, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition are all nice, free programs to help keep things clean, especially CCleaner.

I'm just realizing I don't have spellcheck anymore, dammit.

Doesn't look like I have it yet. But appreciate the heads up!

Looks like the Trojan Horse has hit IE as well. I'm using IE and I have the same problem that was described in the first post. What I don't understand is, I also tried to go through the Yahoo search engine and I got the same result(clicked on the first link and it was not the website). It almost seems like someone has hijacked all the search engines.

Its a DNS Changer (I think its called the Zlob trojan) , my computer was hit with it about 2 weeks ago.

I used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to get rid of it.

Well, hate to disagree, but Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware didn't get rid of it for me, HOWEVER...

I found this link on another forum...

Near the end is a post by ishootudie...

The file Gooredfix.exe solved my problem. Follow the directions. This is only if you just have the problem in Firefox like the first post in this thread. It appears to be just a couple registry entries, but others who tried to delete it on their own said it came back. Using this fix it's gone for now, (hopefully for good) and I'm crossing my fingers. :-)

Or just do a Google for the file "Gooredfix.exe" and follow the instructions you find on other forums. It appears it's rather new.

That fixed worked!! I can use FF again. That malwarebytes program is slick, but it just wouldn't get this one.

Thanks for the link Larry, stick around, this is an awesome forum.
