Default "I Wanna Be Your Lover" 1977 Warner Bros Demo

Yet another tune from the Ted Templeman produced Warner Brothers demo session. This song is typical of what EVH much later referred to as being "a bit dumber kinda rock", and as such never made it to an official release.

No way Wolf can play that funky.

    Good choice Craig!

Wow. I can see why that was never released. It's pretty lame in comparison to some of their earlier stuff. "Dumb rock" indeed. The bass playing is a dead giveaway that Mike did not play bass on the later stuff. That's real bass playing on that demo. Ed never did much more than ride
16ths on the root-notes. It must have been frustrating for Mike in that he could've done a much better job on the recordings and he had to recreate Ed's boring bass lines live.

    Cool

Thanks for sharing that as I've never heard it before.
Pretty cool in my book.... could have fit on 1984 next to house of pain.
This band could have "made" it work on an LP. Roth sounded really good on this one and Ed, Mike & Al have a good groove going as well. Maybe, just maybe these guys will have some of this stuff dusted off and released????

Elements of Take Your Whiskey Home and Outta Love Again. Pretty neat. Not digging the vocal, though. I agree, it doesn't fit the song somehow.

It is easy to see Dave's progression in vocal melody from some of the early demos up to later versions of the song.

House of Pain on the demo versus 1984, Voodoo Queen becomming Mean Street, Last Night becoming Hang'em High.

Dave's writing skills seemed to continually improve up through EEAS.

What ever in the hell happened to them after that I have no idea!
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
