Gene Autry & The Cowboy Code : Take Note

    From Wikipedia:
    The Cowboy Code

Autry created the Cowboy Code, or Cowboy Commandments, in response to his young radio listeners aspiring to be just like Gene.

    1. The Cowboy must never shoot first, hit a smaller man, or take unfair advantage.
    2. He must never go back on his word, or a trust confided in him. He must always tell the truth.
    3. He must be gentle with children, the elderly, and animals.
    4. He must not advocate or possess racially or religiously intolerant ideas.
    5. He must help people in distress.
    6. He must be a good worker.
    7. He must keep himself clean in thought, speech, action, and personal habits.
    8. He must respect women, parents, and his nation's laws.
    9. The Cowboy is a patriot.

    Default ...and I'm okay!

That's cool, but I prefer The Lumberjack Code:

    1. Cut down trees, eat lunch, go to the lavat'ry.
    2. Wednesdays, go shopping. Have buttered scones for tea.
    3. Cut down trees, skip and jump, like to press wildflowers.
    4. Put on women's clothing, hang around in bars.

    Don't read this.

I swear, it's like I'm playin' cards with my brother's kids or somethin'. You nerve-wrackin' sons-a-bitches.

In 2002, when my grandmother passed, the family was going through her stuff. I found a piece of paper with a signature on it. Got to looking real close, and it was none other than Gene Autry. My family let me have it. Pretty cool!
