If VH recorded a whole album worth of stuff plus whatever didn't make the cut with gary, when will some of this stuff start to leak out and show up on sites like napster or on bootlegs? I'm curious to see what they were planning and if they go ahead and just use some of it anyway with dave.

I doubt if the Gary stuff will ever see the light of day. I think the only way we'll ever hear that stuff is if some sneaky little bastard lifts the tapes out of 5150 and posts them on the net.

15 years later, we're still looking for the legendary 5150 demos with Dave. 4 years later nobody has heard the infamous Van Hagar track "Between Us Two". Given these precedents, I wouldn't look forward to hearing the "lost" Van Danniels tapes any time soon.

As for the question of whether any of this material would end up on the next Van HALEN album, I guess that would depend on which story you heard last year. Supposedly at one point VD was said to be making material that resembled classic Van HALEN. On the other hand Cherone at one point commented that the album would be "more experimental". I don't see anything along the lines of "Once" or "Josephina" being used on a Van HALEN album.

Van HALEN is: Dave, Eddie, Mikey, Alex. Any questions?

At some point they are going to use some riffs or parts of those Gary songs somewhere. They almost have to I would think. Ed seems to do lots of those kinda things. Look at Top of the World. Or Down in Flames, turned out to be You're no Good. Off the top of my head, 70% of the old demos (pre VH1) were used somwhere along the line. I am reading things on the board of people saying a riff from Balance or Humans Being is from a song from those demos.

As far as whole songs? Probably not. Maybe a box set. I'm with you guys on that one.

box set, box set, box set, box set.

hey FORD, "Once" and "Josephina" were both ON a VAN HALEN album. They were both on VAN HALEN 3. Remember....Van Halen is: EDDIE, ALEX, MIKEY, and whomever happens to be their lead singer at the time. Remember FORD.....I want Dave back as bad as you do. I just think I look at it truthfully. You look at it thru your David Lee Roth shades.....so to speak. If the band's name was MAMMOUTH or something like that, then I would agree with you 100%. But the name of the band is VAN HALEN. It's EDDIE AND ALEX'S last name in case you didn't notice!! So therefore any album that they put out is VAN FUCKIN HALEN. ANY QUESTIONS?????

I think if the aborted sessions were any good, Gary Cherone would still be in the band
