and who were #1 and #2?
    [B]
    Eddie Van Halen in 2012:

"ESQ: What are you going to do with all the material that you wrote with Sammy Hagar?

EVH: Oh, I hadn't thought about that. That's some great music. They're just on vacation, maybe. They're off to college and they're going their own way. Who knows?"

I am not a big fan of lists, but at least here they had an organized system to do it.

Kurt Cobain is still way over rated IMHO.

I've got to completely agree, Cobain rated higher than Dimebag and Tom Morello let alone the others below is a unbelievable...

I catch this show on WRIF in Detroit whenever i'm up early enough on Sundays. It's a great program with thought provoking interviews on playing music mixed in with music. The host, Steve Black, always goes out of his way to find hidden gems from seldom heard or underrated guitarists. It's a quality listen whether you play or not.

I think the media confuses Cobain's guitar playing with his songwriting talent. He couldn't play for shit. Dave Grohl is a way better player than Kurt. He was a great song writer though...

Not a bad list... Good to see Nuno on it (for a change, although, should be higher). Also good to see David Gilmour rate highly.

I've always rated Page higher the Hendrix (out of the big 5).

Ed will always be stuck at 2 or 3... Should be #1 though...
If you have nothing nice to say about Eddie Van Halen, you're at the right website. - Me (A few years ago)

"People take Van Halen much more seriously than we do" - David Lee Roth (1980's)

"I don't sit on the end of your bed while you're trying to make a living" - David Lee Roth (1988)

"For some reason people love to complain about everything. The internet has made it easy for people to do that. Shut the fuck up and get a life, or show me how good you can do it."- Edward Van Halen

"A lot of people ask me which Van Halen singer was better. You can't compare them. It's like asking which guitarist is better. Nobody is better than anybody. Every player is their own person."-Edward Van Halen

"I do like Eddie Van Halen as a player. He gets it right quite often." -Paul McCartney

Surprised Satriani is so much lower than Steve Vai, I kind of view them in a similar way.

Not saying they play the same, and maybe I am prejudiced because I prefer Satch's playing, but just thought it was interesting to see such the big difference.

Maybe Vai's new distortion pedal commercial put him over the top, it is a pretty damn funny commercial.

    8. Les Paul ?????

I thought this was a list of famous complete guitar players of all time? If he's on there, where is Leo Fender? LOL I'm sure Les is a decent player, but come on.

It's a decent top 5, but it goes to shit after that.

How many albums has Leo put out? I know Les is somewhere in the thirties...Decent is a bit of an understatement.

Glad Ed made #3 (but I think he's #1) and my man Trevor Rabin made the list (even at the #100 slot).

Leo Fender could not play guitar so it would be stupid to put him on the list.
