Default creative gift ideas under 20$

Just seeing if anyone could give me a suggestion for a gift for a co-worker? It has to be under 20 dollars. Simple as that.

1 month of Netflix will cost you about $17.00. Purchase the gift card online and redeem it on line. I have done that a few times.

    Well...

You could raid the Dollar section at Target for goodies.

Avon makes colgne in cool containers that are reasonable.

    McDonalds gift certs.

Go to the cheap toy isle at the drug store and get some silly stuff.

See's Candy - They'll gift wrap it too.

Books are always a good inexpensive gift as long as you stay away from the self help section. No one wants to be reminded that they have room for improvement.

Many bookstores are having nice sales right now. I would find a copy of the Stupidest Angel by Christopher Moore....its a Christmas Horror story and I have yet to find anyone who hasn't found it hysterical

used bookstores will have nice photography, gardening, art and classics in pristine condition....

gift cards are always nice, but have that "I didn't really feel confident to choose something for you, so here you go" feel......unless it's a gift card for a coffee place..(or as OLO said Netflix)..no one ever turns their nose up at those and they are kind of nice because it's a luxury that a lot of people are cutting back on.

I almost forgot...I don't know where you work, but if office gifts are what you're looking for. go to the website

    www.thinkgeek.com

and you can find all kinds of office stuff... my favorites are the "monkey picked tea" the "file folders with attitude" and the take out menu organizer
( a must for my office) and the puzzle calendar that looks like lego blocks ...they also have cool coasters made from circuit boards and cool mugs

The key with the gift certificates is to be certain the outfit you are purchasing them from isn't in financial trouble. Some of these companies will no longer honor them.

Here's a list of companies to be concerned about:

See's candy is always a good call. I haven't had See's since I moved from Cali. I miss them.

After I received the same email I saw a story about it on MSNBC. They said most of the compaies listed on the email are perfectly fine.

But you still need to be careful, as most gift cards are worthless in bankruptcy and many people wait far to long to redeem them ...

Why do some of you think McDeath gift certificates are a good holiday gift?

For young families, they are fairly reasonable gifts. Remember the McDonalds experience is far more important than the actual food for kids, whom more often than not view the outing as an event.
