I wanna know what the D2H is. Looks weird... That guitar has a locking nut on it, too; so I wonder if Ed is trying to find a way to do a fixed bridge but have pitch-bending capabilities.

Looks like the D2H is a locking fixed bridge. From the looks of the design, I bet you tune the strings like normal, lock the nut like a Floyd, and then adjust the fine tuners just like a floyd. The lever on the bottom looks like it turns a rod that drops the low E string to D. So it is like a Floyd and Dtuna bridge with no whammy action. Not a bad idea now that I see it.

Ed looks pretty good in those pics. Nothing like the infamous pic we saw a few years ago.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if there's no whammy action (a fixed bridge), what's the point of locking the nut? If you need to go from E to D just use the tuning peg. Even on a Floyd the D-tuna is not really necessary. Most Floyds have plenty of room in the fine tuners to go to D from E. Though it does make it a second or two quicker.

I initially thought it would be a D-tuna for fixed-bridge guitars.

    I now suspect that it's possible it's a "detuner" for ALL 6-strings.

Is it possible that it's a method to drop all 6 strings down one whole step?

Nobody except Billy Midget from Greenday needs a special mechanism to drop to D on the 6th string in a fixed bridge/vintage trem. I'm not half the player Eddie is, and I don't need it. It takes me 5 seconds, and I don't even practice it as a "move" or trick. Twist tuning peg, stretch string, BOOM done!

There are fine tuners on all 6 strings, which to me is noteworthy. Otherwise, why lock the strings at the nut? Fixed bridge guitars don't require a locking nut, and haven't for half a century. Some of the best tremolo bar setups haven't even required a locking nut. There must be something going on near the bridge that requires the aide of a locking nut, otherwise, I assume those fine tuners wouldn't be there on the bridge.

That is waaaay too complex a contraption to be just a simple E-string detuner. Or at least that's what this temporarily ignorant and uninformed fan believes.

** EDITORIAL NOTE: I have not proof it's a locking nut, as it's not visible in the photo. I'm going off of other posts I've read regarding the topic

    Note to Edward:

Quit trying to reinvent the wheel on guitars and gadgets. Please put out a freaking Van Halen record. It's been almost 11 years. You're reaching Axl Rose proportions here. I wish you still had the passion for music as you now have for pimping signature gear.
