Mrs. Bsbll4 bought me a guitar for Christmas

    What do you guys think?

    http://www.zzounds.com/item--IBARG350DX

I have been playing the same guitar for over 10 years (Fender Squire) and I was having a lot of trouble with it (It has a tremolo bar, which is really cool if you like playing entire songs out of tune). I figured that once we bought a house I would look into a Frankie kit, but the wife made the decision for me. She told me "now you have a guitar that reflects how well you play." I definitely married the right woman

My question is, I know nothing about guitars. Zip. Nada. That's what you guys are for Again, besides going to Guitar Center and fudging with an instrument or two, I've never played anything else except my shitty Squire. So, did Guitar Center hose my wife, or did they recommend a solid instrument? I've read a number of reviews and they all seem to be glowing, but you can never tell what are real reviews on the internet.

For now, the guitar is in the back of a closet, waiting to be played on Christmas morning. So just how much should I be looking forward to playing this guitar?

Obviously, from the link you can see it is an Ibanez RG350DX with a locking tremolo system, 24 frets, shark tooth inlays, etc. She told me I could get another guitar for the same cost (it was about $350) if I wanted, but the thought was really sweet, so I wouldn't trade it in unless there is a much better option out there. So, what's the verdict from the resident Guitar buffs?

    Thanks!
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

the ibanez rg350 is a real solid guitar, great neck, a decent trem, decent pickups and solid construction i think she got you a great guitar which over time if you feel like it you change the pickups etc....but for now yeah its a great guitar for the price.
now go give her a foot massage

I am a Jackson guy myself but I have owned a few Ibanez guitars and found them to be pretty much trouble free. I can tell you this, once you start playing it, you'll NEVER go back to your Squire. Once I started playing Jacksons, I never even THOUGHT about playing another guitar...

Totally cool that your wife did that for you! She chose well! Enjoy!

I have the same guitar and I can tell you that it's been very reliable. It's a little bright sounding sometimes, but nothing a little EQ adjustment won't fix. All in all a good buy......hope you got the wife something nice under the tree as well!!

My friend has that one, and it is pretty nice. Not really my style being a 24 fret guitar more aimed at shredders, but it is a solid guitar. The only thing I would pick about is the electronics, which were very sloppy on my friend's -- the exception being the pickups, which are decent.

    Nice. Thanks guys.

Oh, and for those who asked about what nice gift I'm getting her. I think I'm settling on some sort of Coach purse. I think they're stupid, but whatever, if that's what she wants....

Somehow the thought of giving each other expensive gifts with our money just doesn't feel entirely satisfying.

Hey, man. The misus did well. Like others have said, it's a solid guitar.

You could always replace the pickups for an upgrade, if you're interested. I recorded a band last year who's guitarist had three RG350DX's. He had different pickup sets in each one. The one I liked best had Lace pickups in it (a gold/gold/gold set, I believe).

Yeah, that's a nice guitar and all, but if Mrs. Bsbll4 had any real guts, she'd go out and get you one of these!

I mean, these things are dirt diamond cheap bro, in the ballpark of 25,000 smacks, which in todays world, isn't that much, right?

If she loves you she would.......................

I kid ya, Ibanez RG 350 is a great guitar, you should be happy with it. Now, for you and your gift to her...............Mercedes-Benz CL 550 Coupe, yes yes, I said it. Go get it for her and get it now, before it's to late.
