Default What is the best clean neck humbucker?

I am looking to get a super clean neck humbucker for a guitar I am about done building. (Basswood body, maple/rosewood neck, strat bridge, 2 humbuckers)

I don't want a bluesy neck pickup at all -- in other words, I don't want it to get that traditional mellow, smoother, and bluesy sound like a EBMM EVH, Les Paul, or Wolfgang would in the neck position. I want a super clear, punchy, and 'chimey' humbucker that sounds more like a clean piezo system than anything else.

    Any ideas?

I'd say the Dimarzio Humbucker from Hell sounds like just the ticket. Despite the name, it's a low output humbucker that's very bright, almost like a single coil. The Dimarzio website has a good description of it.

Another option might be a humbucker-sized P90, like the Seymour Duncan Phat Cat.

I just put a Dimarzio Air Norton in the neck position of my new Ibanez RG2550z, and I'm very pleased with it. It's warm and bright, well balanced and plummy sounding, but I think it would be the exact opposite of what you're looking for.

    That's a good recommendation.

Basically the single coil sound, but without the buzz/hum.

I also thought either SD Jazz or Phat Cat.
