    Default 11/18 St Louis Show

I went last night also and it was one of Sammy's all-time best shows I have seen (probably 25 times including with Van Halen).

He always seems to have tons of energy for his St Louis fans.

    My only 2 complaints:

    1. Drop When The Sun Don't Shine from the setlist. I absolutely hate that song. I can't listen to it..it is horrible.
    2. Drop Fight For Your Right from the setlist also. It is been used as the final song for the better part of 3 years. It is old, stale, and his version is pretty weak IMHO. That song also songs terrible on the new album.

I love it how Sammy always changes 4 or 5 songs on the setlist.......that is one reason why he is such a fan favorite.

Hopefully tonight's show is as strong as last night.

Someday, I would love for him to bring back 'Remember the Heroes'. That is a great song!

If I had to choose one song from Sam's back catalog for him to perform, it'd have to be "Swept Away." Easily my favorite Sam song, probably ever. There's also "Salvation on Sand Hill" which I've always wanted to hear in concert (at a show I'd attended, that is).

"High Hopes" would round out my top three

Was at the second show. Good show. A few things I would have liked to have heard. Man, wish I heard that first show with that setlist.

I've said it on here before, but I'll have to say it again. Vic Johnson sounded freakin' great! When he joined Sammy, for the first several tours, I honestly didn't think he was anything special. But I've noticed the last 3 tours I've seen him on (I guess all post-VH '04 tour), he smokes. I keep trying to figure out what has changed. Is he more comfortable with the material or within the band? Is it because it seems he's changed to using mostly Gibson guitars (I believe he used PRS or some derivative of before)? He had a great solo during Rock Candy during the second show at The Pageant.

I don't know what it is, but as far as playing ability and tone (GREAT TONE now), man.

Vic, you rip it up!!!!! NICE JOB!!!!!

Rock Candy was amazing. He always has had amazing tone, but your right, his playing the past few years has been unbelievable.

At the following link you'll find over twenty videos from the St. Louis shows, ranging in quality from quite good to hopelessly awful.

So i saw Sammy Hagar for the first time back in 1977. He was the opening act for Kansas at the RKO Orpheum Theater in Davenport Iowa. He had me hooked from the get go with his enthusiasm and energy. That's when it all started.

After all these years, and the many times that i have seen him live, this journey for me has long since been more then just the music.

Sam simply gets that the life he has earned and has been blessed with obligates him to be a decent human and to look out for his "brother."

Red Rocker Sammy Hagar visits St. Louis Public School students, donates money to Blessings in a Backpack food program

    By Valerie Schremp Hahn

    St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Red Rocker Sammy Hagar is in St. Louis this week for two performances at The Pageant, and he also got a standing ovation from a gymful of kids when he appeared at Patrick Henry Elementary in downtown St. Louis.

He was there to put in a good word for Blessings in a Backpack, which helps feed needy children over the weekends, and he’s donating enough money to the program to help feed more than 2,000 students in ten St. Louis Public Schools.

During the week, many poor children eat federally-funded breakfast and lunch at school, but on the weekends, they’re on their own. Though Blessings in a Backpack, every Friday students are given backpacks with meals for the weekend and they bring the backpack in on Monday to be set up for the next weekend.

The group says the program helps students do better in school and gets parents curious and involved.

Pfrom the concerts this week will benefit Blessings in a Backpack. Hagar said he plans to return to St. Louis every year for more benefit concerts, and his goal is to pour a million dollars every year into the program.

Wednesday afternoon at Patrick Henry Elementary, an oversized, handmade card that said “Thank You, Mr. Hagar” sat in the front office as antsy students gathered in the gym waiting his arrival.

As Sammy entered the gym, he slapped hands with kids, public school officials, and media types. After students welcomed him with a poem and a Patrick Henry polo shirt, Sammy explained that he got tired of writing checks to groups where he had no idea how the money would be used.

“I don’t just want to write a check. I want to see it firsthand. I want to feel it.”

Schnucks stores are helping to coordinate the program by shipping food from their warehouse to the public schools food service warehouse. U.S. Bank is working to set up an account so that people may donate directly to the program here.

Hagar also announced that Harrah’s casino in Maryland Heights will open a Sammy’s Beach Bar and Grill, and the proceeds from that will fund this program “forever,” he said.

    Utilize. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

    I love coffee and sarcasm.
