    QUESTION: Recording Software for Mac

I'm looking to record guitar and vocals in to my Mac.

Can someone recommend some good software/mike equipment for this?

    Thanks in advance!

Well you can get audacity for free, I recommend that.

As for the equipment... you'll need mics and a mixer, assuming you want to do multitrack recording. Go to musiciansfriend.com and check out the recorders / mixers they have

    Pro Tools. Why fuck around?
Last I checked, you could get a Digi 002 for a few hundred bucks.
Get into the plugins- and you're gold. Still have my old 001 MBox and
    it works great.

The Mac comes with Garageband and that works great for me.

I record through a line 6 gear box that allows my guitar to plug in and I can record vocals through the mic jack on the line 6 box.

The line 6 softwate is phenominal and the guitar tones are great. They provide effects for vocals as well.

Plus Garageband have reverb, delay, flange, etc.

I am very pleased with Garageband for the mac and I can record tons of tracks. I have one song with about 15 tracks so far...lots of good stuff in that program.

    Good luck

Yes, I think Line6 is definitely the way to go. I was looking at some Pro Tools software, but the videos on the Line6 look very good.

Anybody have the GuitarPortģ, POD Studio™ UX2 or TonePort™ UX8?

    Thanks.

I have the TonePort GX, and think it's great. Love the GearBox software.

I just use Garageband to record, since it came with my Mac.

EDIT: I only bought the little $50 version with one guitar input. I don't sing, but I probably should've grabbed the one with both a guitar input AND a mic input.
