    Default RHRN Raw

Which boot is the best raw recording of the RHRN show?
I've heard a couple different versions.
Love the raw sound without the mastering/effects... especially on the drums.
Is there a raw recording that has the whole RHRN setlist?
Or, which one has the longest setlist?

I'd be interested in a boot of those Fresno nights to compare to the actual 'live' album and see how much was over dubbed.

The RAW recording was done at the two Fresno Shows in 1992. May 14th and May 15th. It was originally broadcast by the "Westwood One Radio Network". VHND has a few notes: http://www.vhnd.com/live-right-here-right-now/

Set list from 5/14/92 per setlist fm

    Poundcake
    Judgement Day
    Man on a Mission
    When It's Love
    In 'n' Out
    Right Now
    Bass Solo
    (Michael Anthony)
    Pleasure Dome
    Drum Solo
    (Alex Van Halen)
    Spanked
    Runaround
    Finish What Ya Started
    Eagles Fly
    (Sammy Hagar song)
    Guitar Solo
(Including "316," "Spanish Fly," & "Eruption")
    You Really Got Me
    (The Kinks cover)
    Cabo Wabo
    The Dream Is Over
    Encore:
    Jump
    Top of the World

VH then added a few songs that were NOT played in Fresno 1992 (LWI, ATBL, WGFA).

I've always wanted to hear this simply to compare it to LIVE: Right Here, Right Now. I always see these on eBay when searching for it. Is this it?

These look to be the CDs sent to radio stations for broadcast. I'm surprised someone hasn't ripped this to YouTube.

I remember hearing the radio show in 92 when they played some of the tracks on the air.
    They were very raw sounding.
It was a "Live from Cabo Wabo" radio show and Sammy also played with guests.

I recorded the show off the radio and may still have it on cassette in a box of VH boots.
I know the audio is available on CD on a boot though, i bought it years ago at a record show.

I remember the radio show, but didn't have the coherence to tape it. Too excited I guess? LOL

Maybe you could double check your collection, Johnny B. ?

http://www.vhboots.com/316.html, http://www.vhboots.com/manmission.html, http://www.vhboots.com/vhjump.html. These are the same. Mine doesn't sound the greatest I think they are old mp3's they have that swooshy slush noise a bit in the background and is this one right here that has Rock n Roll but it doesn't have the fade in an outs like Vhboots' description suggests and the tracklist is also different and again an incomplete recording http://www.vhboots.com/livejump.html.

And totally USA! 1992 the double cd ones seems to be the only complete recording sourced from the actual broadcast I wish we could find it let alone a Pre-FM version. The band sounds great on these recordings, in fact on mine the LiveJump one you can tell the You Really Got Me/Cabo Wabo and I think Give To Live are actually the ones used on RHRN even though they supposedly re did vocals and guitars in the studio. They sound great without overdubbing anyways and the drums sound not so processed.

LOL this one has to have the best cover ever I miss those funny 90's ones http://www.vhboots.com/id4.html.

I also have this on tape recorded from the radio. I much prefer it to the finished version. What I want to know is was this version overdubbed at all? I'd think it was, at least a little bit. Did Sam mention that part in the book at all? Can't remember

Yeah, I did manage to pickup USA! 92. I have to say they sounded quite good, and don't think an overdub was needed. In fact some tracks are hard to tell where they may have overdubbed at all. There are some of Sammy's screams which sound a bit different and a few licks in Eddie's solos where playing is slightly different on RHRN. The whole Panama interlude where Sammy talks about worrying about last night...is not on the USA! boot, and when they do play the song RHRN, Sammy says "Van Halen is kicking ass in Fresno", instead of USA that is on the official release.

But overall I'd say the band was just as tight.

Any way you can post the music files? Or can you offer copies to trade with some of us?
