Anyone here do much business travel? What are some of the better reward programs (hotels, airlines, rental car, credit card) are out there? Looks like I may be taking a different position with my company that will require a substantial amount of all the above.

I'm on the road about 100-110 nights a year. I prefer the Marriott Rewards program, just because the reimbusement rate is good, and they have hotels all over the world for my personal travels when I want to cash them in. The quality of the hotels is excellent for a non-frequent business traveler, and once you reach gold and platinum level, the treatment at each stay really can't be beat anywhere. Plus, you always know what you're getting.

Airline wise, I prefer American's program, but Delta and Continental are pretty good too.

If you get a corporate AMEX for expenses, spend the $40 to enroll in their rewards program. You get a point for every dollar spent, and you can redeem for almost anyhing you can think of. That's a big help at Christmas for expensive toys!

Love Hyatt for Hotels. Marriott also has some nice properties.

National rentacar has been good to me.

Alaska Air. Easy to use the miles (good deals for mexico trips too).

Oh, and we're a pretty big Delta hub here in PDX Wees, along with Alaska/United.

Great tip, this is exactly the type of info I am looking for. Marriott sounds good (would probably utilize their Fairfield facilities the most), and someone here at the office was telling me about the Hilton Honors program, which I could use for their Hampton chains. He was also telling me about major chain sponsored credit cards where you could really capitalize on point accumulation. Thanks again.

I travel a fair bit with my job and my best advice is Budget Fastbreak (or any of the other programs the other rental car companies have.) While people are standing in line at the rental counter at JFK I am picking up my envelope and walk to my car that is sitting right outside the door. It literally takes a minute to get my car. Before I had the Fastbreak it could take 30 minutes standing at that damn counter!!!! Essentially you are pre-registering all your information including payment information and when you book your car you use your Fastbreak number. Even information such as whether you want the insurance or not is included. Well worth it.

Marriotts are all good. Along the same lines as the Fairfield Inns are the Springhill Suites, Marriott Extended Stay and Courtyard. I mostly do the full service Marriotts and Courtyards.

I managed a travel agency couple of years ago. We asked our customers about their favorite programs and here were the most popular.

Hotels: Marriott - great rewards and lots of properties with Fairfield, Courtyard, Renaissance, SpringHill suites and Residence Inn all included on their rewards.

Airline: American Airlines. best connections within US and Canada. With Delta merging with NWA they may now have more connctions. Both have excellent reward programs.

Car Rental: Budget - Most locations right at the airport. Good reward program.

    Hope that helps
