    Default Problem with power switch

Every once in a while on my Line 6 head the power switch will "stick" when I try to turn it off and I'd just kinda work with it til it did. It wouldn't click off, like something was blocking it. Last night it did the same thing but now when I power up it stays on for about a half second and shuts off. I don't know if it's a faulty switch/connection or if it's something deeper. Any help would be much appreciated.

I haven't spent any time inside the chassis of a Line 6 head, so I can't tell you if this is an easy fix, or a hard one.

It will depend on one thing: If the power switch is directly mounted to a circuit board, or if there are wires running from the circuit board to the switch.

If there are wires, the replacement of the switch would be relatively easy, if you know how to solder. Make absolutely certian that you have the right kind of switch. I would recommend ordering a direct replacement from Line 6.

If the power switch is direct mounted to a circuit board, have it done by a professional.

I don't know much about amps specifically but I had a similar issue w/ my table saw a while back. The contacts got sticky & wouldn't switch off unless I flipped it several times. They eventually welded themsleves together so it wouldn't switch off at all. I dismantled, cleaned & lubed them w/ dilectric grease & it works like the kitties titties now.

NOBOZOS is right. If the switch is isolated from a board, changing it should be no problem. Otherwise, I'd let a qualified tech do it.

The switch has a 4 wires total, a couple of wires running to a board that has a tiny ass fuse on it, and the other two going into deep territory within the amp. The wires aren't soldered but instead have plastic heads for connecting to the switch and board. Now I just need to find out what kind of switch I need to get and possibly replace the fuse too and see if that helps any.

Sounds like it's going to be an easy fix.

I talked to Line 6 yesterday.... they are going to send me a switch for free... cool. Hopefully that will solve the problem. Now I just need to get my back-up (Marshall VS265) running again.
