It sounds remarkably similar to the Cowboy Junkies' chamber-music version of "Sweet Jane". Not that it's a bad thing, yet sounds a tad too precious for it's own sake.

In this vein, I prefer Aztec Camera's version, yet if you are into this sort of de-construction of VH, then by all means pick up a copy (if you can find it) of "Everybody Wants Some", by a group of virtually unknown artists. It came out roughly eleven years ago on Roadrunner Records, back when it was a small independent label. The interpretations are not for everyone, yet do point out the remarkable quality of the songwriting, which holds up even in drastically different offerings.

I don't mind it. But their country-cum-indie pop rock version of "Symphony of Destruction" (originally Megadeth) is fantastic fun if you can let yourself enjoy it. And their cover of "Paranoid" (Black Sabbath) is a gorgeous, touching piece.

Check out Richard Cheese's version of Hot For Teacher. He does lounge covers of a ton of songs.

Me and a friend of mine use to cruise up and down the strip and sing our favorite hard rock songs in our best Las Vegas Lounge Style. I saw this guys CD come through Amazon one night, and I thought, "This guy is doing what we did, and made a fucking CD out of it!"

Damn, I had to look some of his stuff up, and remembered his version of "Down With The Sickness" After I heard that the first time I walked around singing that for quite some time.
