Default $1.99 For Complete Van Halen Self Titled Album

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...rd_i=678551011

For complete album... not to shabby. Of course, most folks trolling the VH forums probably already have the album/disk.

Read one or two of the 1-star reviews. I'm trying to think of another way to say f'ing idiot, but I suppose that's the best way to say it.

Thanks for the link! Reading those 1 star reviews was priceless . I love that someone suggested listening to Metallica's 'St. Anger' for a REAL rock album. LOL.

HA "Newer Metallica stuff is awesome, It doesn't need solos" Metallica even admits that was stupid of them. Whenever they played those songs live they added solos. St. Anger is very forgettable in any case.

I don't know if Amazon or VH's management are behind this, but I can't work out how anyone can be profiting from it.

I think it's just advertising. If they make a few cents so be it. They're not going to lose money so who cares. If you think about it, plenty of people who have never bought a VH album might go for it at this price on the strength of one song or word of mouth reviews. Maybe it gets them a new fan who then goes out and buys some more.

Maybe, shudder to think, they are trying to keep a fanbase alive ready for the next release.

More interesting were the 3 star reviews. A lot of people have plausible
reasons for not digging VH or even Ed's playing. Perceptions are funny that
way. But then I have to remember that at one point I thought Hendrix was
pase' , the Beatles sucked and hated Bob Dylan.

Yeah. But it also has the minute, fourty two seconds that changed the music world as we knew it.

Not a bad deal, but aren't Amazon MP3s bad quality?

Some of those have to be jokes, like the reviews from chingys #1fan!!!!!!! "Lil Romeo #1fan too!" and MTV rocks.

I would at least hope that someone with a lick of sense would not include these names on a list of guitar players that suck:

    Van Halen
    Andres Segovia
    Allan Holdsworth
    Eric Clapton
    Steve Vai
    Joe Satriani
    Megadeth (especially Marty Friedman)
    John McLaughlin
    Paco De Lucia
    John Petrucci
    BB King
    Al De Meola
    Jeff Beck
    Yngwie Malmsteen
    Greg Howe
    Chet Atkins
    Michael Romeo
    Robert Fripp

Amazon picks a different downloadable album every day and discounts it to $.99, $1.99 or $2.99 (usually no more than that). The type of music varies from day to day, but it's a way to get people to check out that part of their website.

Amazon's MP3's are 256 kps, so they're decent quality and they're DRM free. (I did see someone complaining that a daily special wasn't that level of quality last week, but I've not seen it.)

No, I don't work for Amazon or anything like that. It's kind of like having a daily cutout CD that you check out.

For some bands though, VH included, there's nothing like something you can put on the shelf after you've loaded the tunes into iTunes.

You folks are right though, some of those reviews are a hoot.

    Take care.
    Dale
