So much for being you're OWN guitar player and being yourself...."perfect for shredding some of Eddie's licks...

I'll probably still buy them and the strings though. Even though the picks are the biggest ripoff out of all the products he is putting out. But, I need picks so I might as well try these.

A dollar per pick? You can get your own custom picks for a lot less.

    http://www.steveclayton.com

They actually used my pics for my band Full Circle as one of their example of custom picks (yellow delrin).

I'm sorry, but if you're buying Eddie strings and Eddie Picks and you're older than 18 you're a poser! Or a collector (one set is acceptable in that case). Still dumb.

Also, I though Eddie's strings were 9-40, not 42. At least that's what the Kramer ones were back in the day.

I'd rather they rip us off by opening the vault and releasing any rare gems they have. Am I really going to have to wait for Ed to die to hear that stuff? You know if Al outlives him that stuff will be out within a year of his passing.

    Okay, now I'm just ranting....

    Rock on!

Oh thank you, great Danward5150, for telling us what is acceptable for us to buy. I don't know if I could go on without your infinite wisdom.

So what if someone wants to buy this stuff? Who cares?

Too bad the string gaugesare too thin and the picks are not thick enough for me, I really wanted to try these out.

So we're saying that the links aren't for information and opinions? My bad.

Just encouraging folks to have their own identity and to find what's good for you. For all we, as fans, have done for this band it just seems like Ed's picks, strings and cables are really a rip-off.

If you'd like to try my identity I use Steve Clayton Delrin picks (.73 mm), Fender Nickel Plated Steel Bullets (for my strats) and Ernie Ball Slinkys for my others (46-10). I use a Rocktron Chameleon pre-amp in to either a 5150 combo (bypassing the pre-amp) or a Peavey Classic 15 depending on the size of the gig.

    Have A Nice Day!

It's a shame the collector tin for the picks does not come with a magnet attached for it to be of some practical value:

Claytons are the only picks I'll use. I use .80mm and they are the only ones that feel right and I've tried them all. I'd love to line Ed's pockets but not with these overpriced picks.

Yeah, this news would have given me wood 25 years ago. Now? No movement whatsoever.

What are you complaining about??? Picks with Eddie's name on them usually selling for about $50 each at the VH Store....

You have to remember that they do come in a tin case (which will make a great stash tin), so that adds a little to the price as well.

Also, I'm sure they will be cheaper when they are available everywhere...
If you have nothing nice to say about Eddie Van Halen, you're at the right website. - Me (A few years ago)

"People take Van Halen much more seriously than we do" - David Lee Roth (1980's)

"For some reason people love to complain about everything. The internet has made it easy for people to do that. Shut the fuck up and get a life, or show me how good you can do it."- Edward Van Halen

Let it go. Crummy picks distributed in a sardine container will still be viewed as a value to certain people at any price, either by the buyers or the sellers. It's your choice to purchase the item or not.

Fuck......I'll buy anything with red and white stripes ! You should see my attic......full of candy canes and barber poles !

I figured some would line up to whine about the pricing. Sucks to live in a free market society, huh ?

This type of shit will work itself out.....if enough people find it over-priced or of poor quality, it will be discounted or discontinued soon enough. It usually doesn't take too long for new products to find it's own fair market value.

I was pissed when they discontinued the Ernie Ball 5150's.......I liked those strings alot. I know they still make the exact set under a different name, but it just ain't the same without the stripes on the cover......
