THE LATEST ON "CHICKENFOOT" FROM MIKE ANTHONY'S MYSPACE!

    Here’s what’s up!
    Current mood: rockin
    Category: Music

    Here's whats up...
Hey everyone, just wanted to give all of you a little update on the "Chickenfoot" project. First of all you can all rest assured that our name will not be Chickenfoot, but I guess we have to call it something for now!! I just got back last Wed. from a week and a half of recording with Sam, Joe, and Chad, and all I can say is....F___K, the shit is ROCKIN!!!! Andy Johns is in the studio with us, and it's sounding BIG!!! I know Sammy got bashed a bit for supposedly comparing this to Zep in the press..( I'm sure if he made any references,it's just because of how excited we all are about how it is coming along. You all know Sammy!! This definitely has the energy of an early Zep or VH for that matter...) NOBODY will be dissappointed!! We have nine basic tracks recorded, and after Sammy and Joe finish up some touring commitments we will be back in the studio to finish this up!!
Be patient, I'll update again soon. We can't wait to get this thing out, so we can bash it up HARD with all of you!!!!

If aliens came down and challenged us to a Battle of the Bands to decide the fate of Planet Earth, I would feel very confident putting early Van Halen forward as our champion." -Tom Morello

Cool! But shouldn't this be in the Sammy and/or Mike forum?

Mike's gonna be in trouble with Van Squalen for continuing to refer to it as "Chickenfoot".

I guess I'm too old... I can't figure out sites like MySpace. They look terrible... nothing flows correctly... way too much jammed onto most of the pages... Just awful. Why does anyone use them, or visit them?

They got back with Andy Johns... I take that as a good sign. I was worried about them self producing the record, but with him producing, I think it could turn out to be really good.

Frickin excited like I haven't been in years for a VH-related product!!!

Because people are drones and EVERYBODY just HAS to have a myspace page to be cool or whatever. It's kinda sad.

Now excuse me, I have to update my plans for today on Twitter.

I'm starting to think this will be one of the first CD's in a while that I'll be looking forward to buying. I'm also wondering if I'll have the same kind of enthusiasm if and when Van Halen 3/4's put out a new CD.

I heard from someone (who has no connection to Sam or anyone else in the band, so I'm assuming he read it somewhere) they might call it "Echo Chamber."

I find it interesting that Andy Johns is producing. Sam didn't really click with him when they were doing FUCK and that's why the brought in Ted Templeman to finish. Here's what Andy said:

"Well, I wasn't quite aware. Sammy wasn't around much. Sammy would come in 1 or 2 days a week to see how we were doing. Give him a rough mix. Sammy and I didn't really hit it off you know. So that's why he wanted Ted Templeman to come in to finish the record. Ted ended up doing the vocals with Sam, which was fine with me. Fuck this, you guys go to the Amigo and do the vocals and I'll keep working with Ed. And Sammy really thought I'd freak out and split because he brought Ted in. And Ted and I just became fast friends you know and worked really well together. So it sort of backfired on him a bit. But Eddie and I were really quite close then. I was his new best friend. "

Does anyone know how Andy and Sam "reconciled" to work on this project?

I hav'nt been following as close as most, but when I heard Andy Johns.....Man, this could be real good. A nice mix of styles and a great old scool producer.
