Default 1986 was one amazing year!!!

1986 was a fantastic year for VH in my opinion. Not only did they bring out "5150", and put on a great american tour, but they just looked so cool all year round. They were having fun, smiling, and the feeling was so laid back, and it was though they did'nt give a fuck on stage. It was brilliant!!!! and the stage dress was funny too, were those baggy pink trousers Ed wore his pajamas or something? Mike wore some whacko t-shirts with little cartoons on them too. Sammy was wearing everything that was thrown at him. Christ!! if a woman threw a dress up on stage, I reckon Sam would of put it on. They just did'nt give a fuck!!! I miss these days so much. I swear that Alex on that tour was in front of the mirror everyday shaving his chest, in every shot of the tour, theres not one hair on that chest of his......
This is what pisses me off with Mikey gone, he had a ball on that tour, all of 'em did. They'd be great doing a toothpaste commercial, cause they had permenant smiles on their faces.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It was all so laid back and care free. Loved that time.

I graduated HS in 1986. What a great time to be a 17-18 year old kid.

There was definitely a positive energy to the band in 86. Remember folks, it was VH's honeymoon with Hagar.

Glad we had that year and those moments, cause we'll never come close to anything like that again. Not with this incarnation. But hey Van Halen, feel free to prove me wrong, I dare ya!

Oh, I loved 86. I was thirteen, and had REALLY discovered boys. The fact that Van Halen came out with a new singer, and a new album was icing on the cake. It sure made up for the previous year, when Dave quit. I broke up with my b/f, cause he told me Dave had quit, and I got mad at him.....

Screw that I double dog dare you!

It was a good time in the bands history, especially when you thought Oh Shit Now What, after Dave left. I can remember watching Van Halen Unleashed on MTV and recording it and watching that soooo many times I wore out the video. They were all definitely happy and having a great time. It seemed to continue right through the F.U.C.K. album, but was certainly more of a honeymoon in 86.

I loved 1986. I became a mommy to my now 22 year old daughter. And I got to crank up 5150 all the time.

    I miss those days.

It was a brand new band with unlimited potential. I never got to see that tour live but 'Live: Without A Net' was good enough.

What a great place to see 'em. I was ecstatic. You can't beat the Forum.

Another lesser reason for 1986 touring happiness in the Van Halen camp was that when Dave left most of Van Halen's employees went with him (long-time ally Pete Angelus, most of the road crew, etc.). 1985 was dismal for Eddie, Alex, and Mike. 1986 and the success of 5150 and the subequent tour gave them a whole lot to smile about; it was a victory and an "in your face" to all the folks who put all their chips in with Roth.

That was rational. I'm sure he has fond memories of 1985 and you as well then.
