Default "Such Good Boys, When Asleep" - The Faces Thread

Without a doubt, the sole reason I ever wanted to play in a band. These pint sized booze-hounds set the standard for honest, good time and experience filled rock and roll. Terrific songwriting coupled with almost effortless musicianship. An inspiration for countless bands, including The Replacements and The Georgia Satellites.

Kenney Jones: drums, percussion (June 1969-December 1975)
Ronnie Lane: bass, acoustic guitar, dobro, tambourine, vocals (June 1969-June 1973)
Ian McLagan: organ, acoustic and electric pianos, harmonium, clavinet, harmony vocals (June 1969-December 1975)
Rod Stewart: lead vocals; rhythm guitar on "Flags and Banners" and "I Feel So Good" (July 1969-December 1975)
Ronnie Wood: lead, slide, and pedal steel guitars, bass, harmonica, vocals (June 1969-December 1975)

Here's a clip of the band running thru a McCartney single that they heard on the radio.

Ooh La La - The Faces (Ron Wood, vocal) (3:29)

Here's Ronnie Lane with his band Slim Chance, doing his own tune. Sadly, it cuts out short. Sort of fitting, in a way.

Thanks for posting these Chef, it was good to hear this guys again. They certainly had such a boozy happy go lucky feel to them, to bad they did not receive more notoriety back in the day. Whether their supposed reunion without Thonk is half-hearted or not, I still would like to see the remaining members play together. Ole' Rod Stewart needs to stick to good ole rock n' roll, plus good to see Woody play lead fiddle.

I did not ever know they were all so short. Would have liked to see them fight Blue Öyster Cult in a cage match.

I was wondering what all these guys were up to and stumbled on this. Could be interesting or it could be shit but .........

Rod Stewart Vows To Help Ronnie Wood Fight Alcoholism
July 28, 2008 - Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood
Rod Stewart Photos (181) The pair are due to reform their 70s band The Faces for a series of shows later this year and Rod is determined to ensure Ronnie - who is currently in rehab following drinking binge with 20-year-old Russian waitress Ekaterina Ivanova - is well enough to perform.

A source said: "Rod says that if Ronnie's not back to full speed by September, he's going to step in and get him better. I think he wants to offer him a haven away from his mad world."

"What's happened to Ronnie was totally unexpected. He was firing on all cylinders about doing the concerts. Rod has said he's still sure the shows will happen with Ronnie."

Ronnie - along with keyboardist Ian McLagen and drummer Kenney Jones, original bassist Ronnie Lane died in 1997 - agreed to the performances last month and is due to start rehearsing in October.

The source added to Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "Whenever Rod puts his mind to something, he does it. He's good friends with Ronnie, as well as being former bandmates, and he will do all he can for him. As far as the shows go, it's full steam ahead - and Ronnie will be there."

Default The Faces Gearing Up For Reunion?

    from www.billboard.com:

    November 12, 2008 , 3:20 PM ET

    Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Could the Faces be rising again after a 30-plus year split?

According to RayGigs.com, original members Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones, along with Stewart touring bassist replacing the late Ronnie Laine, will have a rehearsal next Monday (Nov. 17) "just to check if they can remember the songs."

If the musicians are pleased with the results, the Faces may return to live duty next year, although a source in the Stewart camp tells Billboard, "nothing is definitive yet."

There have been a handful of near-Faces reunions since the band split in 1975, including at a 1986 Stewart concert at London's Wembley Stadium. The surviving members have performed together in various incomplete incarnations in recent years, including Wood and McLagan with Stewart at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in 2004.

"It'd be great to put the band together for charity [or] a one-off event," Stewart told Billboard in 2006. "Ronnie is always up for it. So's Ian and Kenney. We'd just need to find ourselves a bass player."
