I have a Micro Cube for use at home and love it. Built-in Boss effects and some really useful amp models...

I've not tried this version, but I love the one speaker micro cube. For the price, I don't know anyone would look at another practice amp. Perfect for living room playing, and its line out should record pretty well, too. I have a Roland flat-response monitor from the same Cube range (can't remember the model name) that I use for acoustic gigs, and it's a little monster.

I wonder how the cube would compare to the Vox XL...?

I use a micro cube for when I go on weekend camping trips, perfect for offsetting the hippies with their drum circles and acoustic guitars. LOUD for what it is!!

Seriously though, it's a great little portable amp. I used to play a Mini-Marshall all the time when I just wanted to play on the porch or out at the beach, but the micro cube has actual sound versatility, not just one tone with variable amounts of volume like other portables.

Yeah. Roland nailed it on the Cube. I also have one of the 1s and it
rocks. It also has a separate line in so you can jam to your iPod or
another (clean) instrument. I looked at other portable practice
amps (battery powered), but there was no competition. And looks like
they upped the power and added a few whistles, according to this review:

    Thanks. Now I want one.
