    Default Vox Valvetronic XL

Anyone try out the XL? I can't find anyone playing something I little less thrash online to get a better opinion before I try to find one... I like pretty hard stuff just not death metal-ish...

Haven't seen one yet, but to be honest I've never seen a VOX that made decent metal distortion tone. Always seems to be a bit too midrangey for metal, better suited for glam rock. That's just my $0.02

Well that's the thing... apparently this Vox is quite different from their usual stuff...

I've played through one and it will get plenty of "hard rock" sounds not just the really hard stuff. You still have all your controls eq wise, so you can dial it back, same with the distortion.

I messed around with the XL several times back in July. I got some pretty sweet metal sounds out of it. Give it a whirl...you may like the XL.

I bought the AD50VT and it's great. The XLs are great, as well, but I preferred the AD50VT because it's better suited for more styles.

It is funny this thread came up. I just bought a valvetronix 50. Incredible for the money. Great tones. Lots of options. The only effect that is not that great is the wah, But whenever is an on board wah any good anyway. I wanted a versatile amp just to pump all my upcoming builds through, without owning 10,000 dollars worth of amps. They did an amazing job with this amp. Very good overdrive channels and backs off really good for clean stuff as well. What more do you want for the money!

Awesome! Thanks for the endorsement. I thought it would be what I was missing out on the VT series. I'm only looking for something apartment\bedroom size, but I want Mesa Boogie sound. (Pretty tall request) I think this is something I can use. I get tired of plugging in my pod 2.0 sometimes...

Our best selling modeling amps were the Cubes before we started carrying the Valvetronix. I was WAY impressed with how they sounded. Very cool amps, and honestly, even better because of the price.d

We can't keep the Valvetronix in stock...
