Default Sammy hagar has no problem with McCain using Right now

SAMMY HAGAR Has No Problems With JOHN MCCAIN's Use Of VAN HALEN's 'Right Now' Song - Aug. 31, 2008

Sammy Hagar's video for his new song "Cosmic Universal Fashion" can be viewed below. The clip, which is said to be an updated version of VAN HALEN's "Right Now" video, also features former VH bassist Michael Anthony. This track is from Hagar's upcoming CD of the same name, due for release in October.

Unlike his former VAN HALEN bandmates Eddie and Alex Van Halen, Hagar said that he has no objection to the Republican Party using the group's song "Right Now" in the presidential campaign.

"When I wrote the lyrics to 'Right Now', I intended them to inspire people to not sit around and wait for something they believed in but to go out and get it, to make a change however they needed to," he said in a statement. "Whether it was McCain who used the song or if Obama had chosen to use the song, with the current political climate, the lyrics still have the same meaning, and we all need to do something to make a difference, every action counts. In fact, I still feel so strongly about this that I wrote a new song 'Cosmic Universal Fashion' with a young Iraqi musician in an attempt to motivate a new generation to the same affect. I am pleased to be associated with the lyrics to my original song and the new one in hopes that both will make people move to make a difference."

Okay I hope I am not the only one who sees right through this. What a lame and pathetic attempt to promote his new song. It seems like he will sway to whatever side gets him a buck. I honestly didn't really have a problem with him before but this totally rubs me the wrong way for some reason.

who really cares at this point the song is going on 17 years old now for christ sake, it makes no difference either way if Mccain uses it or obama or anyone really. I'm sure no one is gonna vote for this guy just cause he used right now..

    Come on guys...............

Everyone on here should know that Van Halen is really the behind the scenes engine that moves today's political machine. I think each candidate knows that the inclusion of a VH song and thus the VH linkers could be the key to victory!!!!!!

    Yeah, right...............

I'ts a fucking song and that is why we luv Van Halen. Because we luv their songs. I don't care if we have 300 threads dedicated to a song. RIGHT NOW, like it or not, is and was and will be a very powerfull and thought provocing song. I agree with Sammy. I don't care if OBAMA or McCain use it. It is a good tune. THAT is why we all luv VH. For their TUNES. Everything else is bullshit Brett. Let's not forget that bro..
    Peaceout.

What am I forgetting? That people are having a political war over the use of a Van Halen song? I don't think I'm the one losing perspective.

It's a crappy song regardless. When they - anybody, including sports games programmers - use cheese like Jump, Right Now and Dreams as inspirational tracks, it makes me gag a little. Blecch. If you're gonna play Van Halen, fucking put on Judgment Day or Bottoms Up or Unchained, for pete's sake.

Powerful and thought-provoking? LOL. Power ballad, maybe. Thought-provoking? Maybe for folks who didn't pass the GED, I guess.

I never liked Right Now...lyrically or musically. I can't even think of the last time I let it play through when it came on the radio. Seems like a pretty harmless tune.

    It's not surprising anyway.
Isn't it well known that Sammy is Republican?
Contributed to the Bush campaign and all...
    Since he's a business owner, I can't say I'm surprised by it.

Me neither. Not from the first time I heard it. Not when it was being used to hawk Crystal Pepsi. Certainly not at any political rallies or sports events, LOL.

It's been a skip on the FUCK track listing from the beginning.

Much like most of the rest of the album.
