    John McCain chooses...Van Halen?

Anyone see the coverage of the VP selection today? At the end Sarah Palin's speach, 'Right Now' was blasted throughout the hall.

Nice nod to VH as well as to Sammy who will be playing a private party at the Republican Convention next week!

Yup heard that, very cool. Even Hillary came out to You Really Got Me at her speech, though it wasn't the VH version.

John McCain used a Van Halen song during his big speech earlier today and the band wants to make to make one thing clear -- they're not running with McCain.

Van Halen management tells us the band had no idea McCain was planning on using "Right Now" during his big entrance in Ohio telling us, "Permission was not sought or granted nor would it have been given."

For the record, Dubya used the same song during a bunch of his campaign speeches back in 2004, but sources close to the band tell us, "They're not political, they're just rock and roll."

Last time around in 2004, both Bush and Kerry used "Dreams" and "Right Now". No complaints then, but they were too busy on tour to notice.

I do know that campaigns need permission from the band first or they have to pay the band each time the tune is used in public. Seems as always to be Eddie and Alex's motivation $$.

Dude, do you have proof that Sammy will really play, in 2008, a private party at the Republican National Convention?

I am shocked if he does. Is he going to sing "everybody must get stoned"?

Who knew the Republican National Convention would amount to such a great week in live music?

Granted, next week's lineup won't be as star-studded as the Democratic National Convention in Denver, which has seen the likes of Kanye West, Death Cab for Cutie, Fall Out Boy, Sheryl Crow and, as was rumored at press time, Bruce Springsteen. But still, just the list of names for private GOP-friendly gigs next week is a lot more than what we usually see around Labor Day, including Gretchen Wilson, Daughtry, Sammy Hagar, LeAnn Rimes and Charlie Daniels.

Sammy is a libertarian/republican. Donates money to the GOP. Why do you think he hangs out with all those country musicians?

Its all good to me. I have no problem with any musicain being affiliated with a party. Just don't preach politics at your shows and I am ok. I want to hear music and maybe some tits.

    Rant over.

Sarah Palin’s newborn son with down syndrome is named after Van Halen! Read this article. It says “Trig Paxson Van Palin (an homage to the rock band Van Halen) was born in April.”

Another article I found about Sarah Palin naming her son after Van Halen says:

“We’ve always liked the middle name Van because, you know, growing up in the ’80s, Van Palin would be a really cool name,” Palin joked to a Daily News reporter earlier this year in a reference to the rock band Van Halen.

Plus she can hunt, fish, cook, clean, and be a hockey mom. Is good looking to boot, far cuter than Joe Biden! LOL. AND she can take care of political issues too. Old Johnny boy coulda done a whole hellova lot worse here people.

He could of always done like obama and chose a running mate who he was beating the shit outta, ripping him a new one at every turn, etc less than a month ago....sorta like Hillary the hypocrite who got down and dirty with obama, with both of them chopping each other to shreds, and then who turns around and says he is great, and he gets my endorsement, blah blah BS!

Fact is if you truly dislike someone, you do not "back them", or give them endorsement a month after battling tooth and nail with them, just because they are on the same side of the ticket. Friggin stupidest thing I ever saw.

Thumbs up to Johnny Mac. Got himself a girl that he wasn't battling with prior to asking her onboard, and one who is not only nice looking and smart as well as knowing how to help change things, but can also protect him with her rifle if need be. What better running mate can ya ask for?
