"On Fire"/"I'm The One" Live Audio, Ipswich Mass. 1978

Naturally, no video. Possibly a soundboard recording (special effects on Roth's vocals in places) or perhaps a good audience tape. Surprisingly for a pair of tracks of this era, you can hear the bass from time to time. Listen for Ed using bits of "Eruption" in his solos.

Positively thunderous. "The Mighty Van Halen" indeed.

Damn, that brings back some memories from the past. The '78 show truly took my molecules and rescrambled them.

    Good stuff, chef.

    This simply kicks MAJOR ass!

Good stuff. I'd love to have a good quality live recording from that era.

More than likely. Can't help but think about a certain comedy sketch about a dead parrott when I hear the name Ipswich though.

Nah, it was Ipswich, in the town of Suffolk, England. It never occurred to me to consider the earlier European leg of the tour. My mistake.

Ipswich '78 is single-handedly one of the best Van Halen bootlegs, probably ever. Incredible sound, incredible performance. Part of the "UK Soundboard Series," I think five of them were released from May 1978. Just awesome shit, guys.
