Hi gents, I rarely post in here, but I sure have learned a lot from this forum.

This is one of my all-time, Old School favs, just lookin' for comments.
I know there is a diverse range of players & styles here, just looking for honest impressions.

personaly i think its really cool, but then my dad is a jazz player so i was bought up on in (as well as rock, blues and soul) i also feel theres no more challenging music out there to play....jazz is a bitch, but when you nail it, its true shred. people always think that cool techniques came from the 70's and 80's but cummon, check out his thumb, thats where sweep picking comes from my friends, not someone with spandex and a mullet.
    im with ya hatch...more please

Notice the HUGE hands. That seems to be a trait of many great guitar players. Heard SRV had big hands as well & Hendrix, too.

I love the way Wes plays and he is one of the best. My pop was a jazzer as well and he made sure I was hip to the greats. This guy had such pure tone and a warm style.

Not to derail this thread too much, but damn, watching that makes me miss SRV that much more.

I can hear Wes ALL OVER Stevie's stuff...of course, he was an admitted influence on SRV.

As for SRV's hands...monsterously huge. I had the undeniable privilege of meeting the man twice during the "In Step" tour, both times in Dallas.

Funny thing, I've listened to EVH for almost 30 years and I've never felt the urge to break all my guitars and just walk away in disgust.

Half-way through just ONE of SRV's albums, now that's a different story...

The things that strike me from a playing perspective are the use of the thumb and also the phrasing during the piano section.

Thanks for taking the time to offer your comments.

Not to derail too much as well, today marks the day that SRV passed away in 1990. It doesn't seem like it was 18 years ago.
