Hagar to play benefit concert supporting Throckmorton Theater in Mill Valley on 8/27

    ...From redrocker.com mailing list:

Mill Valley California, August 27th 2008

Sammy Hagar joins fellow celebs Actor/Comedian Robin Williams, Comedian Robert Klein and Musician/Producer Narada Michael Walden in championing the Throckmorton Theater. The Throckmorton has been a Mill Valley fixture since 1915 when it started running Charlie Chaplin movies at the hefty ticket price of 25 cents. It has remained the center of arts & culture scene in Mill Valley and is majorly supported by donations.

I was there. Great show. only about 300 people. Hour and a half set. The Drummer for Ozzy sat in as did the guitar player from Wonderbread 5 (Bay Area Band) Sammy was sounding great and the whole band kicked ass as if it were an arena!

Brett6262 was there and hopefully has some pix.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...y%2008/026.jpg this was the reception before the show

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...y%2008/033.jpg Sammy signed a few things here- including this fan's guitar

Mona and Vic stood in the lobby and chatted with fans- posing for pics, signing things, and generally talking about whatever

it was a great show in a tiny venue... Sammy signed a lot of items for fans, and the band was generous with picks/ sticks. Mike Bordin hung out after and chatted with those who came. James Hetfield drove by as we were standing out there before the show- but did not attend the event. It was a good (and very hot) time for all in this small theater.

Cool he had Red Vodoo on the setlist. I know not a classic by any means but I've always enjoyed it even if it is a little different.

Thanks for sharing the pics--always appreciated.

Sammy and his band are so down-to-earth. And it seems they're doing a ton of charity gigs nowadays. Awesome...

While it certainly wasn't the reason i become a fan 30 years ago, i got a glimpse of Sammy's appreciation for his fans way back in 1983. He called back to a radio station in my hometown the day after a show when he already had our money. Don't know that in all my years of going to concerts, i have ever felt that much energy between an artist/band and us concert folk. Sammy obviously felt it too. That's why he called back to thank us.

Proud, proud, proud, that a cat that has been my guy for all these years realizes that to whom much is given, much is expected. I'm on board till he calls it a day.

...btw....thanks for posting those pics bret6262
