Default Inquiry - Lace Sensor Pickups

Hey, all...I'm a Fender owner. As you know, Fender pickups are generally pretty noisy, especially when you select just the bridge or just the neck pickups. Even a noise gate doesn't help much.

This weekend, I purchased some Lace Sensor pickups (red/silver/blue set) and they're being installed tomorrow. Any of you have any thoughts based on your experiences with Lace Sensors? I read that they're a lot less noisy, but I sure hope they're a lot less noisy.

I make sure and visit two different guitar sites each day, this one and the Fender Forum (link above). If you want any info on anything Fender, go there. Do a search, there is a Pup Tent forum and Strat forum that will have answers for you. There used to be a Strat, the Strat Plus I believe, made in the late 80's and most of the 90's that came with Lace pups.

If noise is your only issue than the lace pickups will work great. I have a strat plus that I converted to a H-S-S but it has two gold lace pickups. I also have a red and blue set in my custom tele. The red lace pickup really doesn't make it sound like a humbucker - it is a hotter pickup and is supposed to be a bit beefier.

If you're looking for a more traditional strat sound the fender "noisless" pickups are better. They came in my 2000 Fat Strat and sound great.

To anybody looking for a great guitar at a reasonable price there are used strat pluses out there for under $600. I got mine for $550 and I got a replacement pickguard and threw a humbucker (Dimarzio DH1) in there for another $100. They play great, If I could I buy everyone I see I would.

Well, I've played some Strats with LSs. I really like 'em a lot, but I never played the red/silver/blue set I bought: I've only played the golds. I saw them and kinda went, "What the heck? Why not?!?" and bought 'em. The price was very right: $89. Brand new, not used.

The Noiseless pickups were closer to $200. Since I was at the store to buy an amp and not pickups, I kinda bought the cheaper pickups and asked for forgiveness when I saw my wife later that night.

Wow, for $89, that's a steal! I have a Red LS in the bridge position on my custom bitsa Strat. I think it's my favourite single coil bridge pup in the world. It's a great rock lead sound, but retains that Strat character, particularly in combination with the middle pup. And it's very low noise, even with high gain. The other two pups on my Strat are Entwistle Whites, and they sound good, but they're a lot noisier. If I could find a set of LS for $89 (that's about 50 over here) I'd have them like a shot. Good score.
