Default Whats your least favorite Sammy album?

I've gotta go with the HSAS album "Through the fire" and "Nine on a ten scale".
I have'nt heard "Nine..." in many years, cause I've been unable to buy it on CD. I only have it on vynal, but no record player anymore. I remember "Flamingoes fly" as the only song I liked.
The HSAS album is horribly produced, and "Danger zone" has only "Love or money" and "Run for your life" as its great songs.

    Just my thoughts
What is understood need not be discussed

"Dont disturb my paradise. I've asked you once. I've asked you nice" - "SERIOUS JU JU"

"I am in a blissful state. Dont bug me!!!" - Richard Dreyfuss "The Goodbye girl" 1977

Not going back B.V.H. or Before Van Halen and only sticking to the modern era I would have to say Not4Sale. Not crazy for Livin' It Up but I think it is just a step above N4S. I love M2M, RedVo and 10/13 and his live CD which I left in my CD player after a car accident that totalled the car and I didn't get the disc out before sending to salvage. D'oh.

HSAS is not about song, it's about kick ass Neil Schon solos!

I disagree. N4S was one of his better ones (right up there with MTM), IMO. I would say Livin' It Up is his weakest one, post VH. I see where he was trying to go with the vibe of the whole album, which is fine by me. I just think the songwriting on that was his weakest to date.

Post VH I'd go with Livin' It Up, didn't really do anything for me.
Pre VH I dunno, Danger Zone was an attempt to change direction I think and didn't work well but did have some good tracks. 9 on a 10 scale I'd probably say is the weakest but I think that's because it was a debut solo that had 2 very good Montrose albums to be compared against.

9 on a 10 Scale, Musical Chairs, blecch.

    Livin' it Up too.

Not 4 Sale and Marching to Mars are his best solo albums, IMO. Everything pre-VH, with the exception of the first Montrose LP, just sounds so dated now.

Post VH - "Livin it up" easy. "Mexico", "Let me take you there" and "Sailin" were good tracks, but the rest were throwaway stuff. I hope Sammy does'nt go down this route again.

"Not 4 sale" was'nt too bad, but it took a few listens to get into.....

"Ten13" is very cool, as with "Red voodoo" aswell.

My Top 5 Sammy albums are-
    1. V.O.A
    2. The Red album
    3. Marching to mars
    4. Standing hampton
    5. I never said goodbye

Not 4 Sale should not have been for sale in my book. Pretty bad album. Livin' It Up a close second. Both have a couple of good songs and the rest are clunkers.

MTM and 1013 are his best in my humble opinion. If I had to take one Sammy Hagar album to a deserted island it would probably be Marching to Mars.

And I agree with Squalen that his pre-VH stuff sounds very dated.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

................I hate to say this, but the one I can't really take for very long has to be VOA......not sure why, just never been into it. N4S is like the only one I have never owned, although I have heard some of it by other means.......coughdownloadcough cough. Not really impressed with it either from what i've heard.

I actually liked Livin' it Up somewhat, but I come form the country, and I like it that way so it does appeal to me for that reason, and it was kinda nice to hear something different, but I still think he should keep his heavier style.

Hey, I'm an ardent supporter of Sammy, but I'll even admit that you've just summed up just about every Sammy album ever made. There are a few stand outs on each album, but the rest of the songs are just there. I enjoy listening to them, so I wouldn't classify them as clunkers, but they are what they are.

I think the thing with Not 4 Sale was that he said in the liner notes that he wasn't planning to do an album, but he had some songs that he had written on tour, so he decided to go into the studio and do them. N4S wasn't my favorite at first, but I do really like it now.

I think Red Voodoo is the weakest album, but then again, it has one of my favorite songs, The Love. I get excited when I pull out Ten 13, becuase it has rocking songs like Ten 13, and Ride Sally Ride, but then I realize the rest of the album doesn't excite me as much as those two songs do.

I like all the songs, but I'm not going to call them the greatest rock songs ever written. The only songs I truly despise, and skip over every time are Whole Lotta Zep, and that stupid Bob Dylan cover.

I'm just going to further elaborate on my point.

I wouldn't classify any of the Sammy Hagar albums I own as being "phenominal" albums. When I think of phenominal albums, I think of Queensryche's Operation: Mindcrime and Van Halen's Van Halen I. I might through in a few of my own favorites by Extreme, Enuff Z'Nuff, or Kip Winger, but they are lesser known albums in the rock community by far.

So, the point I am making, which was started from Dave's Driedel's post is that Sammy Hagar has never issued a definitive album. I like them all, I'll listen to them all, I'll go to Sammy's concenrts, and I'll stand behind Sammy more than any other member of VH, but none of his solo albums are in my top ten of all time.

I don't get all the comments about the pre-VH stuff sounding dated, you have to remember you're talking about stuff that's upto 35yrs old! Try finding a car from the 70's/early 80's that doesnt look dated, you'd be hard pushed to find much music of any kind that doesn't sound a bit dated after 2 - 3 decades.
