Default Has Anyone Checked Out the Line 6 Spider III?

    This is one killer amp!

Just picked one up. Talk about making it easy to find your favorite sounds! This amp is a great value for the money.

    My favorite presets are:

    AtomicPunk
    BackInBlack
    BarkAtMoon
    ComfNumbSolo
    SpiritORadio
    YYZ
    Roxanne
    RockHurricane

Anyone else played one yet? I sold my Marshall JCM2000 TSL60 with a 1960A cabinet to buy a Line 6 Spider III HD150 75Wx2 Guitar Amp Head and a Line 6 Spider III 320W 4x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet. Sorry Marshall fans, but it was the best guitar amp decision I ever made.

Anyone wanna buy a Boss GT8? LOL!

The clips sound pretty good... I bet it's a pretty versatile unit...

I'm so out of the loop when it comes to product... I was surprised that Line 6 has cabinets... I thought they only made effects...

I have the Spider III 75, and think it's great. It's really the only amp I've had that sounds good at both low and high volumes.

Better not play a Spider Valve. It will make you smash your Spider 3 in disgust.

I thought the Spider Valve was a stupid idea...then I played one in the store....then it went home with me

I've got two Flextone IIs with the vintage look and the old logo. They're the best. I wish Line6 still carried that line.

I was thinking about getting an 5150 III, but will most likely stay with L6 because they're so versatile.

I own Line 6 stuff and it does sound good, especially for the musician that doesn't have $$ for dedicated stomp boxes, effects and such ..BUT, I draw the line where "someone" at this link...http://www.line6.com/spideriii/sounds01.html claims to have "Pink Floyd Another Brick in the Wall" tones....c'mon. OK, I get it .."a Strat (single coil) with a Clean Chorus"...That's a bad call and insulting for any David Gilmour fan. I've been following Gilmour's tones for decades and have been a "Line 6" fan as well but c'mon.....

I like the Line6 stuff, but to be honest all the distortions sound to me like the same distortion, just with different EQ. That's not to say that some of the presets don't sound killer -- but the tone just isn't quite right on many of them. Could be the guitar they were using to record, but...

I'll stick with my Zoom 8080 effects and Peavey amps for now.

Ya know, I've learned that it's imperative that presets and downloaded patches need to be "tweeked" for the guitar and rig your running. Actually, I'm most happy with the patches I'm using through my Digitech GNX. It's mindblowing what one can do BUT, it takes alot of work and "tweeking". I have multiple presets for the same song/artrist that I use, depending on what I'm running it through. I think that's the key. Several settings sound like dog shit thru some amps but are "sweet" for another. I've got settings that kick ass directly thru a PA but sounds like trash thru many amps.

The problem I run into is that so many of these new amps "color" the preset signal I'm pushing...

Have you thought about ditching the guitar amp altogether, getting a decent sounding PA mixer amp with some speakers with a good flat response tone, and running a Line6 unit directly into the PA mixer as your amp? Have seen a few people doing that now, using one PA output channel with the speaker as their monitor, and one as the loudspeaker channel... and then you can run direct out into the main house PA system, if there's one where you play.

Definitely gets rid of the amp coloration issue. Hard to find a guitar amp that doesn't have its range limit of tone, due to the fact that they're just not meant for hi-fi sound. They're meant to amplify a pretty narrow range of frequencies to be very loud, and the cabinet itself adds tone to the freq band.

I just picked one off of Ebay. I've only had a chance to play with it for an hour or so, but I love it already. Very versatile.
"Yeah, "Panama" is a pretty sexy song; I always thought that song should’ve been sung by a girl; now ya got Sammy Hagar. Any questions?"
