Nice find. It is interesting to note that even Mtv bought into Dave being "back." So much so, that they even made this little spot.

Weren't they all baked out of their minds for this? I seem to remember a photo floating around somewhere here on the board that illustrated this point quite vividly...if anyone remembers it or has it, please repost!

I'd a kicked him out again for how high he was wearing those pants not withstanding his goofy banter.

Coolio is way better than Beck. What a rip off. Gave him the award cause he was an odd kinda guy with music to complement.

Twelve years on, and I still don't understand Dennis Miller's nebulous "3/4 of the greatest" line.

It was "supposed" to be Mike, Ed & Alex, hence the 3/4 remark.

That makes it even odder, as the walk on with Roth was supposedly pre-arranged. You'd think that the host of the show might have been given a heads-up beforehand, like in rehearsal perhaps.

    Whose Mike?
I thought Wolfgang was the bass player for Van Halen.

Its funny that how much Ed gets dumped on regarding in order at that time from 1996 to now with Sam, then Dave, than Sam and Mike just how well he respects others such as Beck and is very gracious towards them.
Maybe he is difficult to deal with as a band member I don't know I'm not at 5150 or backstage at their shows. But the guy always seems pretty nice and accomodating when I see him in interviews and around other musicians.
Especially when he hates doing interviews and talking about himself.

You can see how graciously he and Alex and Mike shake Beck's hands while Dave is flaunting himself. I think that Dave learned how to respect others from that night.
You could see how quickly Ed became uncomfortable after Dave took the mic the first time when he just looked the other way.

It would be nice to see the four of them get a re-do this year but I'd be more surprised if any of them showed up this year. Maybe Ed and Dave will?
