    Default Humbucker Help

I need help deciding on a humbucker. Making a replica of the black and white frankenstrat. I want to get close to what Ed was using, not necessarily the PAF, but with that vintage sound. The guitar would be running through a Epiphone Valve Junior half stack. I'm going to be getting a EQ here soon along with a Weber MicroMASS attenuator.

    Any suggestions??

Also keep in mind that the Valve Junior might not sound good with an original Frankie lower output pickup, since it is lacking a gain structure that the Marshall SPL had. Anyone find a good EVH sounding HB match for the Valve Junior?

You wont get close to VH through a valve junior without some kind of pedal boosting the gain. One cranked el84 with one preamp tube doesn't sound much like a cranked vintage marshall.

Ya -- that is why we are gonna use the boss EQ (which has a level control that lets you boost overall signal.) You think that will be enough boost or will we need like blues driver or something?

probably need something with a little more kick. I have a VJ, used to run a zoom G2.1u into it to get into VH territory, and I ran a DS-1 into it to get that rough Dinosaur Jr. / indie type sound, which i was digging at the time.
