New remastered VH1 to be released on 180g vinyl

Van Halen Van Halen On 180g Vinyl LP

Remastered from the Original Analog Tapes by Kevin Grey at Acoustech and Pressed on 180g RTI vinyl! True Audiophile-Quality!

One of the most explosive and accomplished hard rock albums ever produced, mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl for the very first time! Van Halen's 1978 self-titled debut altered perceptions of what the guitar could do and it set the template for the sound of rock & roll for the next decade. From the instrumental blow-out of "Eruption" and the gritty pop of "Feel Your Love Tonight," to the strutting riff of "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" and the grandiose reworking of The Kinks' "You Really Got Me," Van Halen amply demonstrates the drive, showmanship and musicianship that would turn them into rock revolutionaries!

Van Halen Van Halen Track Listing

    1. Runnin’ With The Devil
    2. Eruption
    3. You Really Got Me

Eh. If it were Fair Warning or WACF I'd buy it. This one, not so much.

Thanks for the news though, VHR!

Well, we could be hopeful that they will do the entire library and this one is merely the first.

    No, this is good.

But I'm a vinyl man myself. Still got the turntable.

So am I I've been into vinyl since last year, been picking up some albums at older stores nearby. Can't beat the sound quality on those.

Fact is, if there's a VH album I'm gonna make the effort to get on vinyl, it's not gonna be the first. It's just me, though.

Oh, I hear ya, VH1 is as washed out for me as 84 and 5150.

But this is audiophile quality plastic pressings we're talkin' here. I'll be getting any VH, no matter the LP - except III of course - if they're pressing on 180 RTI.

Mmm...the REAL Van Halen sound can only be found on vinyl. Balance on vinyl is a true audiogasm.

How true that statement is, and the same could be said of many other classic rock bands. My kids just stare at me strangely when I have one of those "weird plastic looking discs" out. I only own a hand-full of true audiophile quality LPs, but they truly are amazing. It's sad to think that more than a generation of people don't realize how good "antiquainted" technology can sound.

On the other hand, Zach gives me hope that there will be a newer generation demanding vinyl and help with a strong comeback.

I wouldn't exactly know of VH's quality on vinyl, never took the time to even look for those. I'd assume it's pretty sick.

As for Balance on vinyl, I have trouble finding that shit on CD these days. Wish me luck in finding THAT one

A lot of friends refuse to go vinyl because it's "old," and will just download their shit off Limewire (which is some of the worst quality shit I've ever heard). It's a pretty ignorant generalization to make. You can't deny the crisp, clear sound you get from a vinyl LP.

I don't have a turntable, though I do need to get one. In the meantime, I piggy-back off a friend's whenever he doesn't need it. He's a Limewire junkie too, so he doesn't really care, though he refuses to give it to me, even though I've offered to pay of it.

    Ah, gotta love high school

Squal, did you get Snakes & Arrows in vinyl? Holy shit dude, it's awesome

Just go out and buy your own man. There's actually some new decent lower priced models starting to show up out there that you would have had to pay twwice the amount of money for the features back in the 80's. Friend of mine recently bought one of these:

While by no means an audiophile quality table, it is certainly a very nice piece of equipment.

Of course, if you really want to step it up a notch or three, you could seek out a nice used SOTA table. Man, talk about an aural orgasm.

Shit man, I'll just take SOMETHING these days, heh. Sure as hell a lot better than what I've got now (which is nothing).

Thanks for the link, my friend

Van Halen Store is selling this baby right here:

Van Halen (180-gram RTI Vinyl). It will ship on September 9th. $24.95.

I can't wait to hear it! I was blown away when I heard Van Halen's first two records at a friend's house last year. I had always heard that records sound better than CDs, but I had never done a head to head comparison until then, and I was shocked. I'm going to be buying a turntable, mainly for this!

I did indeed. And yes it surely is.

It's pretty easy to find the entire back catalogue of Van Halen on vinyl, with two exceptions. FUCK (US pressings almost impossible to locate, South American and European imports a little easier) and Balance (hard to find, but not as impossible).

Only the ten core studio LPs were cut in vinyl.

RHRN was cut in a laserdisk version outside of CDs, but not vinyl.
BOV1, III, and BOBW appeared in no vinyl versions, even in foreign countries, as far as I know.

I might pick this up. But nothing beats blasting the CD in the car with the windows down in the summertime.

Actually, that's tempting to do right now.

...Oh, I forgot, gas is $3.89 a gallon. Nevermind.
