Cornell can't be in two bands at the same time. Hell, he can't be in one.

Tom Morello said he never got a call from Cornell aboutn Audioslave--he just announced he'd quit to the public.

I like these tunes, though. Cornell has always been a great songwriter.

I just watched that whole concert. Thanks again for the link!

Chris Cornell has quite the library of tunes to draw from and very much do a "greatest hits" show.

So there were some streams of 5 songs from his new record Scream that were on a radio stations website, but as I went to link there for this thread, only the interviews remained....so....

I am going to post a decent quality recording of the stream of his new single, "Long Gone". Remember, keep in mind this is his collaboration with Timbaland, so it kind of sounds like you're listening to an 'Nsync record but with Cornell singing....

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3562B5B1

My take? From what I have heard, creatively he is on top of his game much more so than most of Carry On. BUT, I don't like Timbaland's production...I do like some electronic hip hop and pop, but this sounds like it was made in the late 80's...

Anyways, I swear I searched--and I couldn't find a suitable Cornell thread to put this in...most of the stuff are just threads here and there to talk about him live or whatever, but I didn't see an OFFICIAL CHRIS CORNELL thread like we have for other artists...

If there is, kindly show me and I'll post there. If not, maybe we can make this the official one.

All I got was a ride around the yard on a old cow.

I'll go put on BADMOTORFINGER instead.

Probably one of the greatest vocalists/lyricists of all time. I have enjoyed everything he has done from Soundgarden to Audioslave and all his solo stuff. His new album is coming out in Nov...i am a little unsure how i will receive the new venture seeing as how it is being produced by Timbaland for some reason...just listened to the new single Scream. Definately synth laden but Chris' voice is unmistakably haunting as usual. What do you guys think of him?

p.s. I swear i remember reading somewhere that Ed loved Chris' voice. What a project that would be!

Yeah, but think about it: If past trends are to be believed, the guy would be produced to sound as much like Gary Cherone as possible.

I liked the Soundgarden and Audioslave stuff, but I did not get into the solo stuff that much. I am a music nut, so I own the two solo records, I just have not listened very much. And what I did hear, did not motivate me to give it another spin. I could go for a Soundgarden reunion. I'd like to hear them now. The only time I saw them they were not very good. Don't remember if it was them or sound issues. They opened for Guns and Roses in Biloxi in January of 1992. Cornell just released his last solo record in 2007, so I am suprised he is coming back so quick. I will surely give it a listen.

    One word BADMOTORFINGER

    1991

I remember listening to that bitch on a cassette Walkman, with turbo headphones, until my brain was dripping down the back of my throat.

Actually, now that I think about it, BMF and F.U.C.K. together burned that Walkman out that Fall, and I went out and got a Discman to replace it at Christmas.

I think that Cornell doesn't have the personality to be a solo star. I've met the guy and he's a very shy and reserved guy. Technically he's awesome, but he needs to be in a band. He's just received bad advice from people telling him he can be the biggest solo star in the world. Not the case, I hope this new pop album doesn't do well and he regroups with Soundgarden.

I agree. His solo work is like he's a guest in his own world at times.

Certainly. And it's a shame, as I really enjoyed that last Audioslave album (yeah, I was the guy). I honestly thought that the band was improving with each album. Now Cornell is back to solo efforts and Tom Morello seems to think he's Woody Guthrie by way of Bruce Springsteen.

wait......did people not like that album? (i never looked around to see what other people thought) I've always liked it. I like all 3 of their albums. I don't know what's not to like if you like the band at all.

Then I was disappointed with Cornell's solo album. Since I wasn't already a Cornell fan per se he had that one album to convince me and he didn't. So I'm not even interested in the new one. I did like "No Such Thing" and "You Know My Name" though. "Billie Jean" was pretty good too.
