    Default Eddie and Wolfie 2004

As messed up as Ed was back then, this brought and still brings a nice feeling to me when I see it. A guy who was in some strange place but still gets emotional over playing with his son.

This was one of the best solos Eddie did in '04. Still sloppy, but definitely more focused. The ending is great!

James, I understand what you're saying about the love Eddie has for his son but that is painful for me to watch. He was definitely in some strange place and it was at a time when I remember waiting for it to come on the news to say he had passed away. I truly pray he never sinks into the abyss again like he did at that time.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

I agree, when I saw the 2004 tour in Tucson AZ...I thought oh my god- this is it. The end. This was the concert where he got in a fight with Val's brother off stage. Totally crazy.

I saw the pic of him at the elton john benefit and thought " Edward Van Halen is gonna die, look at him" I can't even think of how pissed I'd be if that happened. Selfish I know....

Thankfull, that wasn't the case... hopefully I'll never see a picture like that again.

I'm with Love and EVHgirl on this one. Edward was an utter mess in that clip--truly hope he doesn't go anywhere near that state again--I didn't see focus, I saw someone out of their mind and near death.

It is really hard for me to get butterflies and warm fuzzies seeing a drunk pushing his son on stage in a very awkward interaction. Glad to see him much better now.

After watching that, I will never complain about Ed's solo in Jax this year again.

I was there too, and it was bad. He played great that night, I thought, but his solo was totally boring. I've said this before. I just wish they'd play an extra song. Even an instrumental would be better than watching Ed warm up. Dare I say, I could have played the solo he played in Jax. A little tapping, some crazy whammy bar, a few angry pinched harmonics and two bars of Cathedral. Done.

Agreed. 12+ minutes of even EVH is a bit much, especially when he's up there 'noodling.' Started out innocently enough with 316, but if had just gone straight to Cathedral and then directly to Eruption, it would have been fine, and about 6-7 minutes shorter. That damn drum stick , although him demanding that the guy who reached in front of the gal he tossed it to to give it to the gal was pretty cool.

And yes, overall, he brought some great stuff. My only other complaint was the opening for Mean Street, he couldn't nail it to save his life.

I don't remember his botching that. I must have been delirious just hearing the Roth version. I do remember that little add-on ending they did; that rocked.

I agree about the drumstick thing. Anybody could do that, basically.

Wow, Ed really was a mess! After seeing how Ed was at the end of this past tour and looking at this video, it is night and day.

    1. Its good to have Eddie back.
    2. Somebody must be behind the curtain playing 316 because there is no way in hell that Wolfgang is playing that!!!

It's so funny how people still believe Wolfie doesn't do anything.
