Atleast Eddie is #1 when it comes to guitarists who are still alive.

I still have a hard time accepting Hendrix in the top 5. I hear nothing by him that gets me going and would want to learn the guitar.
Guys like Eddie, Clapton, Page, and Rhoads are guys that make me wanna play air guitar.

That is actually quite a reasonable list, and for once I pretty much agree with the rankings. It definitely seems biased toward progressive hard rock and the impact those artists hold, from more of a player's standpoint. The truth is, that in and of itself is refreshing, as there is no bias toward history or the need to seem hip. Another byproduct of this is you don't see names like Jack White or the dead guy from Nirvana (Hello, Rolling Stone magazine. ).

Nice to see Ritchie at the top of a list where he belongs. I think Id move Beck up Toni down also Angus up. Al Di Meola can play anything hes amazing.
Nice to see Ace on an A list. Move Lifeson up too. Thats an allstar band.

Yea although some of these guys should be much higher like Alex Lifeson, and other guys much lower like Kirk Hammett, and thats not a knock against Hammett its just there's no way he's better than Lifeson, he had to learn from Satriani to play more, and the way he butchered that VH song eek. Love Metallica tho, i hope the new album is good. St.Anger i loved for awhile but then this one drum he kept hitting made me want to kill myself after awhile i ended up selling it.

Especially Vaughn. Hetfield and Blackmore beyond Stevie?

    I don't think so.

DiMeola and Johnson also too far down the list. Duh.

Somewhere out there... perhaps in Guitar Heaven... there's the perfect list of guitarists, ranked by the one and only GGGG (Guitar Guru God Guy). All that can be known will be; all that can be understood will be. And we will finally have peace.

Actually... scratch that. Someone will be left off that list, too. A couple players will need to be moved up, a couple down. And the fighting over the perfect list will continue.

One of the better lists I've seen but Blackmore is a chump, Page should be third. And Brian May before SRV? Wow.

I kind of think Ace Frehley does not even belong on that list.

I am not a guitar player, but most of the guitarists I play with think he is way overrated. They say he never got any better from the first Kiss album till now.

Did they go into the criteria for the ranking? Is it just pure playing skill, or does the ability to write a killer song included as well.

As far as writing famous riffs, Page and Ed probably have the most.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

Clapton 23? No way. He should be higher. By the way, I am sick of Hendrix being no. 1. At this point in time, top 10, but not no.1 anymore.
