Is that a Digitech 2120 stuck in there? The reason I ask is that I have a 2101 and haven't for the life of me figured out how to hook that sucker up to my amp and get it to sound good. I've tried straight into the amp, through the loop.... maybe there's a hidden button in there somewhere I'm supposed to push lol. Nice set up you have.

yep 2120 love it. i use it for different things within different presets in the ground control. mostly its lwasys on in one detune setting but i have 3 detune patches and a chorus patch in it. thats all its used for. its either on or off. most of the time on. great unit. shoot me a email if you need help but like i said i only use it for one efffect at a time so your config may differ. i have always believed one unit one effect. kinda like a computer the more you use it for at one time the slower it is and less powerful it is. expensive thought yes but tone wise makes alot of sense.

I'm just using the fx in the gsp, the same as you. It sounds good when I run through a POD or mic my cabinet then into the mixing board and use the gsp in the effect loop of the board then to my computer. I do this for recording. I'm trying to incorporate my gsp into my stack byway the loop effects in my amp. Luckily I've got a crap load of cables so I can try different setups

why does it sound bad in the loop of the amp? it shouldnt. what effects are you using it for? are you trying to do to much with only one unit?

I'm just basically using little chorus, delay's. I hooked it up yesterday and it sounds "not too bad"... still a little noisy.... luckily I have a 266XL to work on that. Just making sure I have everything hooked up the best way. I think I'm getting there. I have it where I can control the fx through the gsp and not through the amp, which is what I wanted. I'm not really using that much fx from the gsp. What I really want to do down the line is get my amp/cabs set up in true stereo through the gsp because I know what it's capable of doing. The "eventide" sound I get out of it isn't bad, but you can tell the difference (unless you know of any secret buttons lol). I've had this 2101 since the early 90's when I bought it new and always used it just for recording directly... but since I've added to my stack, I want to incorporate it into my main live sound. I just want to see what it can do, just by experimenting. Luckily for me I'm on vacation til next Monday, so you can imagine all the time I'll have on my hands. If you go to my website and listen to "Believer" and "Reality No More solo"... I used the gsp directly. Cool.

I forgot to add that only one side is effected in my cabs.... except when I put the gsp in mono. Still working on it though

I think if I get 2 "insert" cables, the mono issue will be fixed.

what I'm basically doing is running the gsp into the stereo effects loop of my head which feeds two cabs... just wetting the overall sound a little. What I may try to do amongst my experimenting is go wet/dry with the two cabs. What I get now is the dry signal which sounds centered and the effects left and right.

....and after I get that hooked up I have a bbe 482 SM and a dbx 266 NG that I'm going to experiment with. I've always used this stuff directly to a mixing board for recording so all this "effects loop, hooking up" stuff is somewhat foreign to me when it comes to putting them with a live amp. I've always been one to just plug straight into the amp with a couple of pedals before that and go. I'm okay with my sound but I'm ALWAYS tinkering with it looking for one that I can really be happy with. So I look at all this stuff I have laying around and wonder what it will sound like with my live setup. That's what I love about the web, you can research anything you want, learn things here and there and apply it, then hit the "on" button and run!!
I appreciate any advice you give or anyone for that matter. I've been playing for... a while, but never long enough that you still can't learn about equipment, playing, etc. I guess I've just moved my focus more towards how I sound than my playing, but still learning from both. Once I get all this stuff figured out and hooked up I'll get some recording done, especially since I bought a shure57 last week for micing, and let you take a listen. I love critics, because it gives me the opportunity to see things from their perspective. Enough rambling, time to go melt my brain some more

try going just wet dry. keep the effects seperate from the dry cab. the wet cab is going be all effects 100% wet. what are your standard effects? also can you hook them up wet/dry tomorrow if so tell me what effects is your base tone and i will tell you what settings i have for my detuner for the 2120 which should be somewhat the same and help you dial in the delay.

I'm just using distortion from head. Delay, chorus, detune are coming from 2101 that I run in the effect loop in parallel. I have a decent sounding "harmonizing" effect that I used for recording, never tried it with 2 cabs yet. I'm sure the settings aren't correct (detune cents, delays, etc.), just going by what I hear. But yeah, I'll have it hooked up one cab dry, the other wet first thing in the morning and go from there. When I was just running into my head I would use the delay from that because I liked to adjust the delay according to the tempo of the song I was playing. Hope that helps

I hooked up the cabs side by side wet/dry. Sounds kinda... different in an odd way.
