    Default Going Solar

I found this article interesting. This guy put solar solar panels on his house. He has only had them a month, but I've always wondered how they hold up over time.

Better use it up before it gets old!

Interesting I did not know that being able to sell power back to the electric company depended on the sate you where in.

I keep thinking about this for my house. I wish the cost would come down a bit though...

I look at the same way the writer of the article does. If I finance it, I'm still making a payment, but it's going toward an asset, rather than just a sunk cost every month. It can't hurt whenever I want to sell the house, either. "Buy my house and have no power bill."

Does this article mention the installation cost, tax breaks, etc. ?

There is a link at the beginning of the article that goes back to his original article where he talks about the three different bids he got and how much it all costs. I think it ended up being aroudn $35k for the whole thing after the tax breaks. Still pretty expensive.

I've been reading more and more about this stuff lately. I find it really interesting. I have a friend that is working on his own version of an electric car. I keep thinking that if I could generate electricity with solar and wind at the house and drive an electric car, I would never pay an electric bill (or pay very little), and never have to go to the gas station again. Wouldn't that be nice!
