    PEAVEY 6505/5150

Anyone here have any sound clips of a Peavey 5150 or 6505
at lower gain settings?? All I ever here are the heavy metal riff stuff.
I have never heard a decent player post one at low gain settings.

Help me OB1's.....your my only hope! LOL

This is not the greatest playing -- since I threw it together after getting a bunch of demo requests... but you can get some idea of the tone. This was also about 6 months ago, and I had not yet tweaked the tone right either, or retubed the amp yet, so it can sound even better than it does in the demo.

Recorded for the Groove Tubes marketing manager who hired me a few years ago to cut a song for him sans vocals. I tracked and mixed everything you hear.

Rhythm guitar played straight from a strat into a 5150 combo. Lower gain, not exactly clean, but bluesy crunchy.

The chorus of the song and the bridge is the strat sound layered with a Les Paul played on the lead channel, but not full out gain, but still a harder sound. And then an acoustic rounds it out. The only guitar amp used on the song was the 5150. I replaced the tubes with (guess) Groove Tubes and the speakers with Vintage 30's and recorded it with a Casecade Fat Head ribbon mic into a Mackie 32*8 board. That's about it. Not much EQ. The client was nice and happy. I hear he cut vocals on top, but I've never heard the final product.
