    Default AARP Presents....Foreigner

this should probably go under the music thread, but i think that the sponsorship alone is laughable. never would i allow that.
    thats a damn shame.

Yep, this got mentioned in the Foreigner thread back in April. Still pretty funny/weird, though!

That's a better deal than what VH was giving out for their five star!

Let's see...Foreigner's debut album came out in 1977. Van Halen's debut album came out in 1978. There doesn't appear to be much wiggle-room for old age jokes, does there?

Exactly what is so funny about AARP sponsoring a tour? In the current economic climate facing citizens of the U.S., finding someone, anyone willing to underwrite tour expenses today is a positive thing.

To add to that, this is an astute business decision on the part of the sponsor. Believe it or not, like it or not, some fans of bands from the seventies are getting very near retirement age.

Say what you will but, Foreigner is pretty cool. In fact, I'm listening to "The Very Best...And Beyond" right now at work.... Good stuff!

And craig makes a very valid point as well....

It's truly a befitting band name these days as only one guy is left who was actually in the band when they were in their prime.

i have no problem with sponsorship, however.....come on aarp!

VH will take the best sponsor they can get... whomever it may be. I bet they'd tour even if all they could get to sponsor them was a douche company. Not that I think it'd ever come to that, but if they had to work, they'd work.

This made me think of VH's best deal, the Nissan ad. Just deserved a mention. Cool song for a cool ad. :-)

You think VH would take on Cabo Wabo Tequila as a sponsor?
Seems like Ed had a shitfit when he saw any banners etc. in arenas back in '04 if I remember correctly.

and the Nissan commercial was the coolest.

LOL! That'd be hilarious... If unbeknownst to Ed, Live Nation worked a deal with whoever it is that owns CW Tequila for signage/sponsorship of CW.

    Doh!

Yeah I've been on a kick lately. Right now I'm listening to 4 (I'm on the last song actually) and I've already listened to the self-titled and double vision today. All great albums.
