    Back in the void...

well, we have now returned to that familiar place we all experienced between '99-'04 and that we went back to in '04 until '07...how long do you guys feel it will go on this time? And if the boys do return, in what fashion will they return. My personal opinion is that they will continue to tour every couple of years, ala KISS nostalgia tours, and that a new album will never see the light of day. I am hoping that my feeling is dead wrong here, and if it is, i will be the first to happily say i was wrong. What do you guys feel about this subject?
WHOAOH! Hey you! Who said that? Baby how you been?

not that I really am excited about it, but I'd be surprised/shocked if a live DVD/CD package wasn't released from the 2007-2008 tour. It be another step of "validating" Wolfgang as a true member of the band if he's included in their discography somehow.

Without new material, I don't see any more touring in their future. I would think a live DVD might happen, but without something new, I don't think we'll see another nostalgia tour with Dave. Even if things fell apart with Dave due to ... well, Ed or Dave, I couldn't see another tour with Sam, either, if that came to pass, without new music. Of course, I can't see Sam back without Mikey, either, so for the foreseeable future, that's not a likely option.

My guess - (1) Live DVD, (2) Attempt at new music with Dave. If things with Dave fall apart, look for Wolfgang to move on, and Sam and Mike to come back.
I swear, it's like I'm playin' cards with my brother's kids or somethin'. You nerve-wrackin' sons-a-bitches.

It will be less silent this time. No cancer, divorce, etc.
Eddie is healthy and playing great. So is Dave.

Maybe a VH Guitar Hero game. Rumors of them recording @ 5150.
Let's hope for a live release by xmas and a new cd Spring/Summer 2009.

Eh. Even if it realistically happens, we won't see a CD until 2010, at a minimum. 2009 is way too soon to ask for one, especially once the egos clash.

Though I don't see that as a concern, because I don't see anything happening. I'm calling long period of silence.

I found out something this weekend I can't confirm 100%, but it came from a mostly reliable source: Dave kept his solo band--or at least his guitarist Brian Young--on retainer throughout the whole VH tour. This would signify his maintaining a "Plan B" if things were to not extend beyond the '07/'08 VH tour, which is likely all his contract had him obligated to do.

I imagine Wolfgang would want to have a "regular" senior year of high school starting this fall. And he really deserves to.

Beyond that, I see three possibilities:

    A) Nothing in the immediate future--another extended, possibly permanent, hiatus.

    B) Regular smaller tours w/ VH4 in reliable markets, not unlike The Eagles (who, like VH, are managed by Irvin Azoff).

    C) A big tour in the future with Dave, Mike, and Sam. As mentioned above, Irvin Azoff manages Van Halen now, and he first managed Sammy before he hooked up with VH again in '03 (and he still does manage Sammy). I could maybe see something coming together by way of management. (This is probably the most unlikely of these three guesses, however.)

Notice I didn't say anything about new music. I seriously wouldn't hold your breath. VH hasn't made a record under "normal" circumstances since 1991, and there isn't any money to be made with CD releases nowadays.

I don't know why but I have a feeling these guys aren't done yet. Still get the feeling that the Wolfie phase isn't over yet. I think the one thing positive about Dave is that he'll push for new material. Thats just me.

    Nada.

    Maybe a patchwork live DVD.

Personally, I hope Dave gets back to writing that second book after his contract expires and tells us the real dealio.

1.) Since VH did well, maybe a live CD/DVD.
2.) Since VH did well, maybe a new studio album.
3.) Since VH did well, they will not do anything, anymore. They ended it all on a good note (playing wise).

You can't predict what these guys will do. So, just enjoy what they've done over the past 30 years.

How difficult could it be to keep Brian Young on retainer?

Do you think DLR kept the John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band on retainer too?

Actually he said that in New Jersey.

I guess he could've said it in Boston too. I wasn't there.
