When the guys finally decide to get their shit together and everyone is just happy to be on the tour trail again, what would the ultimate stage, overall look/clothing, and sound represent for Van Halen? Does any of these qualities matter? I personally would love to see most extravagant and MiNd bLowInG
production to hit the tour circut in the last twenty years! And what a perfect opportunity for Van Halen to WAKE up the rest of the music world that thrives on the latest bubble-gum/boy band / bullshit that is what is setting the music industry on fire these days... I hope Van Halen returns with a VENGEANCE !!!

I say lots of fire works (exploding lighting rigs etc). Also I think what they used to do with Alex's drum kit, being elevated as he takes his solo, should be done but done bigger and better. I reckon they should look at what they did in their biggest show ever and then multiply it by 10 for the 2001 tour!!

But all that will be secondary to the awesome sound of the best rock band ever! We don't need to worry about the details - even the VHIII tour (which would have had the lowest budget I assume of all the tours) was more of a spectical than a concert. VH will rock and rock like no other!

I couldn't give 2 shits what they wear, and any special effects, lighting etc. will just be icing on the cake (metaphorically speaking, of course)

The important thing of course is the sound of the Second Coming of Van HALEN

In my opinion, to market a tour in order to attract today's concert goers, I would think that it would be necessary to focus on elements that would most likely guaruntee solid attendance. For that reason, I would say that a stage and costumes popular in their 80's shows may not be what the band would use now. DLR will not walk out on stage with spandex I guaruntee that. Even on the last tour a friend pointed out that Ed was wearing Doc Martin shoes. Nevertheless, I am certain that Van Halen will bring to your hometown a stage, soundsystem, lighting (and even costumes) that will be worth seeing.

Dave will have to wear something that shows off what kind of excellent condition he is in. Maybe not spandex, but nothing too loose fitting either. Maybe a well-fitting pair of jeans....tank top...comfy shoes or sneakers...

I don't think any special costumes are needed these days, especially for an "older" band like VH. They should just go up onstage dressed like they would any day... something light and comfortable so they don't pass out from the heat they'll work up

As for the stage, honestly, they should take a page from Sammy's book recently and make the set something interesting, large, eye-popping, but at the same time something that seems so simple that it blows your mind when it changes into an over-the-top spectacle partway through the set.

OK guys, let's think about what band we're talking here. If they do a reunion tour, the stage setup will be huge. This band virtually wrote the book on big production, and they held the record for biggest production ever taken on a continental tour for several years. Clothes wise, I could care less what they wear. Granted, Dave will be in something he can move around in, but don't look for them to wear shit from the Panama video.

I think they will go back to the big wall of white speaker cabinets that 3/4 of them were not even hooked up! "SHOW!!!" Big stage, but still wave the speakers over head be the ones that they really use! Alex should go back to the 4 base drum's with a huge flaming gong!

I would like to see Alex playing a bigger drum kit next tour, maybe not 4 kicks, but just the deeper ones he use to play. It would be nice to see Ed play the striped wolf as his main guitar this go around. They need the huge "VH" that lights up, like the one from the Fair Warning tour. I'd like to see Al on a higher drum riser too.

I definately want to see Ed play striped guitars again, To me that is as much a signature of Ed as his sound is.

Stack those amps like in the FairWarning tour. Make it look like its going to be loud but make the sound quality excellent.

Clothing - I dont really care.

Dont let the guy who choose the new Slawterhouse colors pick anything, his taste speaks volume's.
