    Default Dave & Mike

Do you think Van Halen ever considered removing Dave from the album covers like they did to Mike? I'm still pissed that they did that. No fucking class.
I can't remember which comedian said it, about the current state of Van Halen, but he said right now, Van Halen is like a really hot playboy playmate with a prosthetic leg.

    BRING BACK THE CLASSIC LINEUP!

I can't even have an opinion on ANYTHING anymore unless it's exactly what everyone else thinks...oh and if I do it means I HATE this album, and hope it fails. Man some of you can fuck off...seriously. - BRETT

"You make music for people. Otherwise, just play in your closet. And how do you reach the most people? By giving them the band that they know. To do it any other way would be selfish. - EVH, June 19, 2015 Billboard Magazine

"That's a load of crap. The fans know Michael Anthony." - Me, regarding the above quote from EVH, June 19, 2015

    No idea.

Yes, removing Mike was just plain dumb.

Agreed. Besides it was far simpler to create a compilation album, name it the "Best Of Both Worlds" then simply leave out any photographic evidence of one of the... umm, "Worlds".

C'mon Craig, it's not like the band included three live versions of old songs sung by their new singer on that album.

VH didn't need to remove DLR from photos from 1986 on--because they adopted the Ed Leffler "keep it moving forward" approach so much they basically left the past in the past. That, of course, left a lot of fans feeling like there was a definite absence or that the band was neglecting part of their legacy. They tried to keep that same thing happening in 1998 with Cherone--the "nothing was right about what we were doing before and THIS is the new best way" thing. But you can't shit on your past twice and have people buy it AGAIN. Fans have too much affection for VH's entire legacy to buy any stupid crap again, which is why there was such an extreme backlash to the removing of Michael Anthony from the VH I and WACF album covers. Their website SHOULD include information from every VH era and every VH album and every VH tour. It can easily promote the CURRENT configuration of the band yet still honor the legacy of the past.

But VH is, of course, amazingly good at alienating fans and neglecting their history. Evidence of this is obvious to diehard fans: Most business decisions since 1996; poorly assembled GH packages in 1996 and 2004; an uneventful RRHoF induction ceremony; MA photo removals in 2007; etc.

they did remove Mike, but then they did put Mike back.
No class, but then again, they DID put him back on.
and this was last year, no need to argue about a thing that was FIXED.

It's not like they felt bad and said "Oh, well Mike deserves to be on there." The thing is, it was done and people remember it. And it was fixed because there was such an uproar from the fans in outrage, they basically had to fix it or else they'd be in pretty hot water with plenty of groups of fans, musicians, critics, and people in general. While many disagree with the tour and it's lineup (such as I), even tour supporters were outraged. It was the one of the lowest moves this band has made in their history.

To even think they felt bad about the decision is ridiculous. We know VH better than that, and they'd even proven they could care less about their history or it's members by making other boneheaded moves, such as the one Chef referenced.

And yes, it had to be argued even though it was fixed. VH proved by that move, fixed or not, that they have zero integrity or respect for their history. It's a load of bullshit. Yet they're still gonna go out and play 25 old songs every night re-creating nostalgia, something their lead member said he'd never do.

Boy, I love the Van Halen hypocrisy. And I love how fans try and find ways to excuse their complete and utter disregard for their history. It's a disgrace.

If there was no need to talk about things Van Halen Incorporated has done wrong, this board wouldn't exist.

Moreover, that was one of their most ridiculous fuck-ups to date. And that's saying a lot, considering their long history of fuck-uppity.

But Squal, we should only be talking about good things in Van Halen. Like how they took in $93 million from people to witness what was a half-assed tour most of the time (until the final stretch which was outstanding, performance-wise). Like how they got rid of Mike to bring "new life" to the band with Wolfie. Like how Wolfie convinced pops to go on tour with Dave and saved Van Halen. Like how they'll "probably" release a full album, or maybe just a couple new songs on a greatest hits set. Like how there may be more one-off shows coming for VH to give fans one more chance to see them.

All is well in Van Halenland once again

I know, it'd be much better around here if people just got on board and supported Edward in whatever he chooses to do. The power of positive thinking. Fanbases should be unanimous in backing their artist of choice no matter what transpires.

Party poopers like me really need to get with the program.
