    Default Vintage Mixer Question

Hey all. As some of you may know, I recently aquired a custom vintage Richmond recording console. Iv'e pretty much got it all up and running, I have one more expansion module going in but there is one thing I'm trying to figure out. On each channel, (keeping it 24x) it has four inputs. 1 XLR balanced, 1 1/4" balanced, 1 ring tip sleeve (appears to be in and out but pre-echo loop. The one that is confusing me is labeled 15v line access. WTF is this one? Iv'e looked on line but to no avail. My thinking is that this is possibly for a VU meter hearth. I accidentally plugged into this "input" with a piece of synth gear,as it is poorly marked and sparks went a flyin'. No apparent damage thank god but wondering if any of you guys might have a clue about this. Unfortuneatly this company has long since swithched to software based recording technology so most of the staff there now don't have a clue. Any ideas would be very helpful!

Hey, SLEEPER5150...I emailed your post to a guy I know who may be able to help you out. He's a super genius. If I remember correctly, he used to own a Richmond.

Hey thanks alot! It will be a huge help. Alot of people have been saying " why did you buy that? Go with Protools". Well it's very warm sounding, has the old pathways I like and has the echo/send & returns that just scream classic rock wich is what I play. I have been doing some small snipets of this and that on it. I'll have to send you some Wav.s when its done. Thanks again, and stay in touch!

Hey, boss...my super genius did not know what it was for nor could he find out any info on it. Sorry. I know a few more people that might know. You might not have your answer for a while.

Shane, you should go post your Richmond console mystery at the Home Recording.com Bulletin Board. Lots of knowledge there...some posters are full-time professionals. I'm sure you'd get your answers there.

Hey MM. No problem and thank you for your digging! I appreciate it. Iv'e been making a list for some of the custom cables I need to make. The guy who built it was XLR crazy, and most modern gear in our home studios has a mix of XLR, 1/4", and RCA end to end but on alot of the inputs and outputs, it will be a mix. Anyway, thanks again.
