So they're suing the park when it clearly stated it was dangerous to be in the restricted area. I remember the woman at Holiday World who was killed for standing up on the Raven roller coaster. Do all theme parks attract idiots?

Well, it sounds like he was a solid kid (he was there with a church group) who just did something pretty stupid. No ill intentions just a bad decision. What a horrible story.

Unfortunatly, a lot of people pay no attention to signs against their well-being. Hopefully, no children witnessed this personnally. That could be pretty disturbing.

First of all, yes, this is a sad story. Child death is always tragic.

However, I must take issue with a couple of comments in your replies.

First, just because the kid was in a church group does not make him a 'stand-up' kid. I remember church groups. A lot of those kids are little heathens.

Secondly, I DO hope kids saw it. It would sure as hell keep them from doing something similar themselves.

Most of us do something stupid, especially in our teen years. Most of us survived, although the argument could be made otherwise for a few.

I feel for this kids family.

I don't know about that. Kids are pretty resilient and their memory is pretty short when it comes to that sort of stuff.

Always sad and tragic to lose a child. It seems even worse when it happens at places that are usually for having fun and making good memories. Every day you have your kids is a gift, even though it doesn't always seem that way.

I feel bad for all of the other people at the park who had their day diminished by this idiot getting himself killed over a hat.

Not really. Kinda hard to forget something like that. It's called 'trauma.' Look it up sometime.

This reminds me of a guy in the Toronto area that lost his life because he went out onto a 6 lane highway to retrieve his hat that blew off while he was changing a tire. Seriously...go buy a new hat!

What stands out in the article is that the author had to throw in the information about the other incident at another Six Flags. The other incident was definitely the park's responsibility but by adding that to the article about the kid who died while jumping two 6 foot fences it kinda suggests that Six Flags has a history of serious incidents. Media at its finest.

Man. I've been a kid and I was in a church choir. I've been to alot of restricted areas, my dad used to throw bullets into a fire as a kid, and my granddad used to stack tank shells on rails, as a kid. I'm sorry for the kid and the kid's family, but bottom line is - kids are stupid and think they're invincible.

And I seem to recall a dumbass teen that stuck his head out of the car in the Windsor/Detroit tunnel and got decapitated on a pillar.

Read the article again. The lawsuit referenced in the story was filed by the family of a girl whose legs were amputated on a ride at a different park. Two totally different cases.
