Default Orange County Pros and Cons

Having just returned from a week with a few days at Disneyland and 3 in Laguna Beach (which I fell in love with and made me miss the beach even more) I was wondering from those who live down there is it as wonderful as it appears?
I was checking some real estate prices on line last night and home in the Laguna area really aren't that expensive and far less than where I am now.

Brett talks down about the OC but I don't why. Laguna is artsy and much more quiet and peaceful than I thought.
We drove up the coast until Long Beach where we caught the 110 to 101 which eventually merged with 5. I was tempted to just stop in LA when I was passing The Staples Center to try to score some tickets from a scalper for last night's game 5.

We stopped for a photo op at Huntington Beach but it was too concrete and busy. I liked the quaintness of Laguna alot more.

Seems as if there are a lot of cons in Orange County, what with all the murder and other crimes we've read about lately. From what I hear, there are some pros, too - down on the OBT. Oh, wait, you were talking about the other O.C. - the one they made a tv show about...

Hmm...the pros: great beaches, awesome weather, amazing veg/vegan restaurants. The cons: it's Orange County. So traffic, sprawl, yuppies, too many rich assholes, strip malls, smog...
    "Suck a fat one, faggot."
-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

-Derrick Jensen, "What We Leave Behind"

"You know what's weird to me is Christians who are against the death penalty. After all, if it weren't for the death penalty, we wouldn't celebrate Easter!"

    -the late, great, Bill Hicks

Jan hit on the head. LA likes to look down on the OC as its less
sophisticated and more conservative cousin, and the OC prides
    itself more or less on same. It's always reminded me of Florida;
hot, flat, but with some cool beaches. The sprawl and traffic is
easily the worst I've ever seen, but if I had the coin to invest
there, I could think of worse moves/investments.

I cannot give an unbiased assessment of Orange County because I'm from Northern California and we thumb our noses at everything south of the Manson/Nixon line.

However I can tell you to be careful because 12 and 13 year old girls in Orange County can pass for being in their mid-20s.

That's all that I can add to this thread.

I have to confirm this just based on experience.
