    Default Interchangable necks?

Can I put a Peavey Wolfgang or EB Axis neck on my Jackson DK2? I need a fast, small neck because my hands are small. The Jackson is great but I love the feel of those other necks.

Probably not. The heel width on the Jackson is 2 1/4". The EBMM's and Wolfgangs are probably 2 3/16" or something weird.

Even if the widths were the same, there;s still that "wheel" style truss rod adjustment at the heel of the EBMM and Wolfgang necks that will prevent it from seating properly in the neck pocket without some sort of modification.

Dude, I don't want to sound like a dick or anything, but why wouldn't you just play an Axis or a Wolfgang?

No worries, I would have said the same thing and obviously this would be my first choice but I am still a novice at playing and I don't have the cash so I was wondering if there was a cheaper way to get that neck feel that's all. Guess I have no choice but to save up.

you could always buy one of the korean wolfs or hp's (dont kill me A.T.!)
they're reasonable for the money and pretty good players, just dont think of them "as the real deal" and you'll be fine.

Hey, been there. Your best bet is to wait for a U.S.A. neck to show up on ebay and snag it, then wait for a body and piece one together. In the end, it may be just as expensive as buying one whole, but at least you can spread out the expense over time.

One thing to consider though, is that almost any guitar can be made to play well with a proper set-up, and maybe a shim here and some filing there. The unless the neck is warped, or the frets need leveled, just about any guitar can play extremely well.

I almost forgot, there is a guy around here that does some amazing work too. Here's his site:

I'm pretty sure if you tell him what you want, he can make it for you.

If you just like the feel of the neck of the Axis or Wolfgang, you can have USA Custom Guitars make you a neck that will fit on your guitar with the neck profile and fretboard radius of either a Wolfgang or Axis neck. I think it will cost you around $200 to $300, depending on the wood you choose. You can choose your headstock type, and the neck heel can be made to fit your guitar.

    Here's the link:

You can probably get one made here for less than you will pay for a Wolf or Axis neck on ebay anyway.
