    Default San Dimas Padauk

    I began a thread awhile back, but figured I'd just start a new one with finished pics.

    Before:

    After:

    * One piece Padauk, San Dimas style body with Ellsworth style tummycut
    * Mighty Mite maple neck with ebony fretboard
    * Gold Original Floyd Rose tremolo
    * Brass Big Block upgrade
    * Gold Schaller style tuners
    * Gold Custom Logo Neckplate
    * Seymour Duncan '59 Trembucker
    * 500k volume pot
    * Solid brass EvH style eyelet hooks

    Pictures really don't do this guitar justice.
    The guitar looks even better in person.
    And the tone of this one piece Padauk is incredible!

    Note the Linn Ellsworth style tummycut ... it's extremely comfortable.

    Thanks for looking!

    It looks excellent, Dino. I'd love to do a Padauk guitar at some point.

    What's the finish on the body?

    I steamed out a few dents, did alot of sanding and used several coats of tru-oil sanding with 0000 steel wool between coats.
    Then rubbed it down with bees wax.

    awesome job once again dino that thing is a work of art.
    the finish is better than some high end manufacturers, it remins me of a piece of expensive furniture (i mean that as a compliment) the way you finished it and the wau its grained etc...simply great work mate...thanks for sharing

    Thanks for the compliments guys.

    Padauk really is a nice tone wood.
    It's very dense like maple, but it's not as "bright" and has more of a unique tonal quality IMO.

    Here's how Warmoth rates Padauk on their "tone-o-meter" ...

    If you're building a guitar and are undecided on what type of wood to use ... maybe consider using Padauk.

    Thanks Rat!
    I didn't weigh the last one, but this one weighs in at a hefty 9.5 lbs!
    I'm on the fence about selling ... the economy sucks, nobody's spending any money and I honestly don't want to take a beating just for the sake of making a sale. So for now ... she's going in the vault.

    Awesome. That's becoming my favorite way to finish guitar bodies. I have a flame maple/alder Jazz Bass and a Walnut/Alder S/S/H Strat in the works right now, both of which are being finished with Tru-Oil and wax.

    Do you like the Mighty Mite necks? I've found them to be okay. But for the money I've REALLY been into AllParts necks.
