Default Thank Van Halen for a great Tour ! (From the fans...)

With all the negative stuff that is said about VH and all the media crap that is most likley not true.

I think we should all take the time to thank the Mighty Van Halen for giving us a great tour, yes it had it's ups & downs but was a great tour and at least we all got to see them.

My first VH show was 1984 in Toronto/Canada (they up opened with unchained) and I have seen multiple shows on every tour since then.

What was your first VH show ?

Cheers VH !.......Hope to see you soon boys !

    Thanks for the show guys!

First VH show is in my sig. Saw it by accident, as I was spending the night with a friend and it was his much older brother's job to watch the both of us for the night.
He had tickets to a Black Sabbath show and decided to take his brother and I along rather than miss the show. VH blew Sabbath off the stage! So badly in fact, that my friend's brother decided to leave halfway through Sab's set. We were home before their parents were, and no one's parents even knew, and still don't to this day.

Since the concert was only 3 days before my birthday, I guess you could say that this was the best birthday present that year!

    Good idea!

Thanks for a great show and fun ride over the last 9 months or so.

Now for the bigger picture....thanks for the fun "roller coaster" ride over the last 30 years. Let's hope the coaster is at the top of the hill in the next few years.

My first show was in Biloxi, Mississippi in August 1981! I was 19 and was hoping to catch a glimpse of Valerie!

Some things never change. I didn't get to see Valerie on the 2004 or 2007/2008 tour either.

My first show was July 10th 1993. Mansfield MA.

They openend with Mine all Mine closed with Rocking in a Free World. My friends father drove us. We ate sandwichs and drank soda in the parking lot. I was only 16! It was really hot that day. I was air guitaring with my shirt off by the 3rd song!! Tickets weren't that great but I'll never forget that day. That day turned me from a fan to the die-hard "linker" I am today!!!

    Default Great thread !

Great thread, who knows whether information on sites like this make it to the band or whether the band cares or not, but a HUGE THANKS to the MIGHTY VAN HALEN for a great tour. These songs have been rattling in my head for almost thirty years , to get to see the band live for the first time in all these years was an incredible experience. Made some new friends and had an awesome time at all 6 shows I went to.

Eddie looked so happy at end of tour, I hope him and the band have a future. Would love to see a DVD of the tour, maybe some new music and see another tour a year or so from now.

Oh yeah, I want to give Wolfie a big cheer for having the balls and talent for being a part of this tour. For a 16/17 year old kid to do what he did was absolutley amazing, I give him all the credit in the world.

Derek, I like your thinking. It was an amazing tour.

Was thinking about my Van Halen concert experience(s) and broke it down costwise like this.....

    Tickets X 6 (excluding service charges) = 738.00
New (now slightly scuffed) pointy shoes w/matching purse, of course = 74.95
One (unused) return ticket across the border = 11.00
Cabs/Detroit Peoplemover (+ one big huge unreasonable pricetag for a cabride across the border after we missed the last bus back to Canada) = 92.50
    Photo processing 18.12
Four sets of AA camera batteries = 7.97
    Cocktails/food/gas = 237.00
    Parking = 15.00
Three souvenir tshirts + VH bumper sticker = 105.00
Two days of missed work = 468.00

TWO amazing-beyond-words nites out with old friends/new friends witnessing the greatest rock and roll band alive playing the best music on the planet and the memories that will forever be cherished not to mention a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fondle AVH's drums at The Hard Rock (+ free WRIF swag) = PRICELESS!!

    Oh yeah and these.....

Box of Band-Aid Brand Bandages (fabric type) = 3.49

These needed (even a whole week later) for my poor blistered feet after trotting around what seemed like the entire downtown Detroit area in "less-than sensible" shoes.....yeah they hurt even days later, but that nite, I didn't feel a thing.....

    Thank you, Van Halen!!

"There's a plaque on our wall that says we've sold over 65 million albums, and I don't feel I've accomplished anything. I feel like I'm just getting started."~~Edward Van Halen

Thank you Dave, Eddie, Alex and Wolfie for 3 incredible nights! (Mohegan Sun 10/07, Nassau 11/07 and MSG 5/08) I enjoyed every single note sung/played!

Brought back great memories of my younger days when I was a little 18 year old smart ass biatch seeing you guys at NYC's Palladium! As my daughter tells me, "Ma - you're like 85 and going to see Van Halen" - my answer to her is "Just because I'm like 85 doesn't mean I feel like 85" and I can still party like a fucking rock star Thank you VH!!

Eddie - you are on a serious roll....keep it up, how about cranking out some new music! Be well, stay happy and strong.

My first show was in Hartford in 1988. If my last show is Mohegan Sun just a few weeks ago, then I'd be fine with it. I finally got to see DLR fronting VH live!

Van Halen, you have given me years of inspiration from your music. Thank you for a kick ass tour and hope to hear some music again very soon!!!

Great idea. 3 shows - Greensboro and twice in NJ. Each one was a blessing and I'm thankful to all four members for their part in making this incredible tour happen. Thanks!

Hey everyone. I saw the show in St. Louis and I have been lurking on the links ever since. I thought this would be a good first post for me!!! I just think it is awesome how much the attitude of this board has changed since the press conference until now. Luckily they seemed to have proved a lot of naysayers wrong. I have been to many rock shows in my day and Van Halen is definately the best by far, I really hope that was not the last time I will see them!!

Thanks for the tour! I caught the band last December at the Rose Garden in Portland. It was 25 years and three months after I'd seen them at the Coliseum next door...September, 1982.
